Would this golok be good at batoning?

I´m thinking that it´s pretty thin where the blade meets the handle, so in your opinion, would it bend or snap in that place?

I´m looking for at heavy beater for cutting down small trees, making camp and batoning.

Thanks

Jonas

Blade is same thickness, but obviously the tang is much more narrow at the handle. It is a solid chopper. I like mine, but I have not batonned with it. I also like the Village Parang. I like the wood handles as I can sand them easily if I need to and they are comfortable to use.

All of the chopper knives thin down the width where they meet the handle. Best yes, if it is going to break, that would be the likely spot. Same thing happens occasionally with the BK-2 surprisingly enough.

Thanks 22-rimfire. I think i will go ahead and get the pack golok or the engineer bolo, also from Condor.

Anyone with batoning experience with either one?

Wow, talk about 2 opposite ends of the spectrum! The pack golok is small, basically a camp knife, good for backpacking when you don't wanna carry something too big...the engineer bolo OTOH is a monstrous heavy chopper that in terms of size and power is really more like an axe than a knife or machete.

Yes i am aware of that :-)
The truth is i don´t really need either, i have several large choppers in my collection.
The pack golok will be nice on backpacking trips and the bolo is just for chopping stuff up, mostly for fun.
Maybe i will get both.

It'll do just fine and dandy at it. The blade is distal tapered so it's actually thicker at the base of the blade than the tip, in spite of being narrower.

I normally just keep kukris from hi around but a condor warlock,i got off here used, was here for a bit and my buddy put that thing through the wringer, what a chopper,he owns it now,but condor impressed me enough a regular golok is on the way ,in the mail. read lots of good things..my wife will probably take it too. lol.

I got the Hudson bay and bush lore from condor. They are great knives at an even greater prize. I think you get a lot of knife for your money, with all the condor knives.
