Does anyone have experience with the new Condor Tavian or Sub Tavian knife? I hear that they are supposed to compete with mora knives but be a little more heavy duty. Any word on what the quality is like, sharpness out of box, sheathe quality?

I don't expect they'll be too different from Condor's usual offerings in terms of those qualities, which is to say "excellent." I'll be able to comment more accurately when my shipment comes in, though. :)

Ok I ordered one. Waiting for it to arrive. I only have one other product by Condor and that is the Golok. The golok is a bit heavier than I expected and handle too thick for me but I can't complain about the quality of it one bit. I have Mora Companion which is great and I just ordered the Mora Robust and Condor Tavian so maybe I will do a review or comparison of all 3 after I get them. I hope the Tavian ends up being a good knife because I also like the looks of the knife

I am in El Salvador here doing QC work, and I must say the Tavian is SICK as far as edges go. I'm very impressed with it, bringing one home for the wife. The Goloks have been getting thicker, we are fixing it.

I just got the tavian in the mail today. I think I will do a review on it. Looks like a pretty good knife.

About a couple months after I made mention to Rick that the Goloks were starting to creep towards the thick side I got some fresh ones that had a nice strong taper and nice thin edge on it. Seemed to be tapered from pommel to point rather than having a flat grind. Are you guys hot-rolling them now? Whatever is being done different, it's NICE! :D

I got mine about 1 week ago and it was pretty thick but I'm sharpening the heck out of it

If you still have the box check the underside of the lid for the quality control sticker. It shows what month and year your piece was made. Just 'cause you bought it recently doesn't mean it wasn't sitting on the retailer's shelf for a while. ;)
