So I was able to spend some time using my new Warlock today while splitting & loading a truck bed full of maple and apple tree wood. Used it to baton a few pieces, but primarily to remove small branches (1/2" - 3") for stacking. It worked phenomenally well. I was wearing rubberized work gloves and had zero issues with the micarta. Grippy enough that I didn't even feel the need to use the lanyard I put on it. The weight was perfect, and didn't feel too heavy or unwieldy during the lengthy task. The edge held up well for the amount of cutting I did. The belly sunk in deep and removed a sizeable chunks of wood in just a couple swings. The black coating suffered some abrasions, but held up without chipping or peeling off. I am definitely happy with the purchase & can't wait to use it more.

Thanks for the report. Photos would be nice but I understand you were working not reviewing.

Please provide us some photos :D i want to see it

I love my warlock, my favourite blade. I got mine when they first came out and was disappointed with how steep the grind was. Mine was like chopping wood with a bat. I spent a lot of time thinning out the edge but once I got it where it needed to be it was a completely different animal. I've since bought a few for friends and the grinds have improved a bit, but still benefit from some thinning out. I've put mine through hell and it is one awesome blade. Here's mine next to a new one I got for a friend

Nice. Mine still looks much more like the one on the left, but plan to use the he// out of it. I definitely know what you're saying about thinning the edge. It bites in pretty good with enough force now, but would be crazy destructive with a thinner edge. I was thinking about doing the handle wrap just as yours is. I imagine it is much more comfortable over long periods of heavy use with the racquet wrap. And wow the micarta sure darkened up with use.

How's it been for rust? I like to keep a coat of oil on my knives, especially if they sit in the safe or shop.

Personally I prefer the wrapped handle. I used it on a couple of camping trips in the middle of summer and the handle just got too greasy for me. As for the handle darkening, I never cleaned the micarta. The reason I love this blade so much is that I know what I've put it through and it's as tough as nails. Since mine was one of the originals, the coating was just like a black paint and came off very easily. I noticed they've upgraded the coating since. Anyway, I stripped it and did a vinegar patina that had held up great. I oil it occasionally but haven't had any rust issues with the patina. However I also have a condor bushcraft parang made of the same 1075 that rusted very easily. I've since done the same patina on that
