Hey All,
I decided to make/mod an EDC knife for myself. Here in CT we can carry a fixed blade as long as 4" legally. I already have an Izula 2 for a small fixed blade, so I wanted something that came closer to the max length. The Woodlaw comes with a 4" blade, so I knew it would need to be shortened ever so slightly. I always want to leave a little wiggle room in case an overzealous cop mis-measures in the event someone actually gets worked up over my knife (not that I figure that would actually ever happen.) so I was aiming for something in the 3.5-3.75" range. I also knew I could shorten the handle a bit and I wanted to modify the shape. It comes absolutely flat, which frankly, doesn't do it for me.
This is how the Woodlaw blade blank came out of the box.
Comparing it to a couple of common knives we've all got so that you get an idea for perspective:
So, I decided to drop the point a bit, and shorten and reshape the handle. This is what I came out with after about 30 mins of work. Tomorrow, I'll clean up the grinds, and hopefully by the end of the week get some scales on it. I have some nice carmel/brownish micarta scales that are crying out to be on this knife.
