Good day all,
I recently attended my first Bladeshow. I traveled from Alberta, Canada. My intentions were originally pure, to meet as many of the great people on this forum and a part of this family as I could and have a good time doing it. Here is the breakdown but first the acknowledgements.
Jerry Busse, Dan, Garth, Josh, Deuce, Beef, Al, Naomi, Lora, Lexi, and Pokey
Some of the greatest, most genuine people I have met to date. They really do care about their customers; the bond was overwhelmingly incredible. Any one of them were more than willing to take all the time it took to help me understand a bit more about their creations, even when the question was repeated a thousand times. They were happy to answer even on the thousandth time. I consider myself to be a very lucky guy to have met all of you and look forward to seeing all of you as much as you can tolerate and I can afford. Pokey, if you could send me an email, I'd like to thank you personally for everything you did for me.
Bill, Bill, Eric, Rick, Kevin (and family), Len (Lennox), Chris, Pat, Dave... the list goes on but I seem to be forgetting names, I truly apologize. I will edit as I remember more names.
You guys were great to me, better than i could have ever imagined, especially being an outsider. You all made me feel welcome and a part of the family. I value the knowledge you instilled upon me and look forward to all of the future meetings, the advice, and good times ahead. You are some of the greatest people I have met, it was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Greatest honor to meet you. I am still in shock that I got to shake your hand and thank you in person for you, your brother, your family and ultimately your brother's sacrifice. We spoke at length in the wee hours of the morning, when all of my senses were in overdrive, I wanted to properly convey the appreciation that you took the time to speak with me.

Words of wisdom only a father and great person could properly wield and land in a single stroke. Thank you for some much needed clarification on life's intricacies. Thank you for sharing your experiences with me.
The Whole Bladeshow 2014 Experience
I will try to relay the experience...though words cannot begin to explain. It all started at roughly 12:09 on Friday. The trough as everyone likes to call it, was full of hogs. The strike of 12:10 the plastic yellow chain dropped and the feeding frenzy began. It was but a flash, all of 10 seconds at most and steel evaporated. Yes, evaporated. Most incredible thing I have ever seen. I hesitated but a second and found that I was empty handed. I did not pick up a single blade from the trough. I was a bit saddened by this as i was really looking forward to some special steel. Once the dust settled and the table was clear of hogs, I perused the remains, all nice pieces but none I wanted to add to my collection. Then I heard someone ask about the 'offerings'. Well that's another experience all together. In the offerings I managed to come away with pieces that would make a stout heart flutter.
Induction
The induction dinner was fantastic. It was a damned good time for all (at least it seemed that way). I was inducted into the Hog family and the Scrapyard family all at once, though I cannot seem to recall my Hog or my Scrapyard names right now. There were a lot of inductees that evening and we (inductees) all had smiles that could couldn't smack off with a sledgehammer.
All in all It was an amazing experience. To me it was one of the best experiences of my life. the comradery was second to none. Thank you to everyone for making this weekend an experience I will talk about until the day i die.
Lastly, its all of you that have the accents. Not me. Cheers!
