Ok this may or may not be the right place for this thread and if so Mods please move it.

My confession is I am a "Knot Head" I have not gone a day in the last year without tying paracord. I have made keychains, bracelets, and many other paracord projects. I never leave the house without at least 8' of untied cord in my pocket. Now I am heading out this coming weekend on a fishing trip and I need to tie up a lanyard. I want to tie a boatswain's/ marlin spike lanyard and as much as I like to tie a crown sinnet I want to tie something different. I have search and searched for some new patterns and came up bust.

Now I have 50' of your choice of white(550) or royal blue(650) paracord to the person that helps me out with either some good instructions for a website that gets me some results.

Thanks for the help guys and no worries the shipping is on me.

I'm hoping you know about khww.net.

There's tons of tutorials and a great forum there....

Let's see some of your work.

I will shoot some pics tomorrow. I teach rope work to high schoolers a couple times a year and have had to keep it pretty simple. Cobra stitch, square and round sinnets, and laynard knots for decorative stuff and the essentials square, bowline, perfection loop(my favorite), prussik and a few others. Now on to another forum.

Knotting can be addictive. Like you, I always have a few feet of paracord in my pocket. It helps to pass the time and keeps my mind off of other things.

Another place to look is knottool.com. DonB the owner is a great guy and is always available for consult.

Please let me know if you need help with anything.

Cobra stitch and sinnets are keeping it simple? I wish I could pick it up that easily. I can't seem to find a video that is successful at teaching me those knots.

I know the Chris reeve lanyard, 2 strand diamond, and the Chinese crown knot. Since you teach high schoolers would it be possible for you to make your own how to videos?

I've made a few simple lanyards and a few Monkey's Fists, but nothing spectacular.

All of you knot heads should chime in on this thread, which I think would be right up your alley, if the idea is expanded to include lanyards, etc.

Have you ever come across a copy of "The Ashley Book of Knots"? I spent quite a few hours of my youth trying to tie some of the many lanyard knots in that book

If you want some really intricate braiding and knots look at The Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding by Bruce Grant. I braid rawhide but it could almost all be done with paracord. It has step by step instructions as well as step by step illustrations. Great resource if you like braiding.
