Well, I mentioned in another topic that I was considering buying a Bass Pro Shops CPM 154 Buck 110, but I kept changing my mind each time I went to their web site.

What I didn't say was that since then, I committed a grievous sin against all Buck-kind.

Instead of saving my pennies for the BPS Buck 110, I purchased a Benchmade Ambush.

But it gets worse. A buddy of mine bought a Benchmade Fecas Snipe with a partially serrated edge at a gunshow in January. Since then, he's been mentioning that he'd rather have the plain edge, but he couldn't find one for a decent price. So he kept talking about it until I went ahead and found a couple of online vendors who had Snipes for a reasonable price. I told him about them. Then he proceeded to drag his feet for weeks and not order it!

Being the obssessed cutlery connoisseur that I am, my brain had already processed that the knife must be bought. I warned him last week that if he did not order it, I would. You guessed it . . . he didn't order.

Then I did it myself. And I have a spiffy new Snipe. Together, the two knives only cost a few bucks more than the Bass Pro Shops B110 costs.

To make it worse, I'm not sure I wouldn't do it all over again. I am ashamed, but not so much that I would act differently when faced with the same kind of pressure!

Say three CJ Bucks and ten Joe Housers my son. And in the future try harder to avoid those evil temptations.

rhino... perhaps you should try batoning the Snipe and test Benchmade's warranty dept :D

Just kidding. :) The Snipe looks like a nice knife. Perhaps a pic next to a few Bucks is in order?

The Snipe's blade is a lot thinner than I expected. For some reason, the blade on my buddy's knife seemed overly thick to me. Mine is actually made of thinner stock than a Buck 110 and the edge is thinner than I thought. This may not be good for batoning, but for slicin', I like it!

Contrary to my usual practice, I actually used it for a few days with the original factory edge. It was actually pretty good, but I reprofiled and resharpened this afternoon and I like it better.

I do need to get my camera out to take a new photo of my AR because I made some significant changes (new barreled upper, etc.), and I could do some Buck 110 vs. Benchmade Snipe pics too.

So CJ still gets top billing eh? After all I've done for you? :D

No offence meant Joe. :o I just figured that for all that you've done for us you deserved a few extra prayers. ;)

Oh no! Now I'm sure I've offended CJ. :foot:

I guess I better just quit before this gets completely out of hand. :D
