I have been out of the knife scene for several years and recently made them a primary focus again. I have many other hobbies\interests which dovetail with knife use, so I have rekindled my dormant but never fully forgotten interest in cutting tools. I have enjoyed the outdoors all my life and in the last few years I got heavily into metal detecting. I even let my motorcycle plates lapse due to my intense focus, which was unusual. Metal detecting for old coins and fur trade relics brings me quite deep into many wild, difficult to access, isolated bush locations. As I've always been compelled to camping, fishing, hunting etc., it is normal for me to carry a knife. I truly doubt that I have been without at least a folder since my early teens. However, being ''out of the scene'' for a while, but having life long experiences made me a little cocky. I am looking back on some of my recent posts and seeing a highly opinionated individual that DOES NOT know it all and is quite WRONG at times. My whiny rants about the Becker tang cut outs have become a slight source of embarrassment for me, as my stronger than need be opinion on Grivory. Today I grabbed my Brute with new Ka-Bar micarta and my BK-2 with original grivory (although I cut cross hatches into the grips), and liked them both. I guess I just wanted to say as I just did, that I don't know it all, that my sometimes semi ignorant opinions can and do change, and that I really do dig Becker knives. Yes I could buy Esee knives or whatever, and still might grab the odd one, but Becker's are a great value. And they are tough outdoor blades to be relied upon. I can pick up one of my Becker's now and enjoy it on many levels and be completely satisfied after the purchase, and that sure doesn't happen with everything that I buy. Thanks for letting me straighten out a few things that I felt a bit off about.
