I work a semi-dangerous job, and years ago decided I was going home at the end of the day period.
If I know I'm going to be in a risky situation, I use common sense, and planning. I'm trained in crisis de-escalation, but once words no longer affect someone beyond being able to have rational thought all bets are off.
In the beginning of each day, when I'm getting dressed, I have a choice, what pocket knife to take with me. Thank God and I hope for my whole career that while I've been in a few scary situations, I've never even come close to needing to physically defend myself, BUT, having an Emerson gives me confidence. When I choose the Emerson for the day, it means the last thing I want to think about is manipulating a knife to open in an emergency.
After yesterday, I told my Wife I'm beyond glad I own a few Emerson knives, and that they are beyond more valuable than every penny I spent on them.
Edit to add: Mr. Emerson, also as you do the Guardian Shephard, is there any way for you to focus on safety lessons for people who work in the community outside of an office in other people's homes? Especially with people who are dealing with very emotional issues affecting their family?
