Confirm/Deny: Chinese LEO telescoping sheath knives?

Kind of an odd question, but this seems to be the forum to check.

I could've sworn that the Chinese police used to issue a telescoping knife, carried with a very short sheath on a belt. When the knife was drawn, the sheath engaged a stud and drew the knife out to its full length on the draw.

I think this is pretty much where Kershaw got their design for the "Ripcord" model.

Does anyone have any citations/proof of the existence of this knife? I'd like to cite it for this Wikipedia article, but need substantiation:

Thanks for any help, we've been making a lot of progress tidying up the Wiki Knife sections, so getting better every month.

it does exist.i believe atlanta cutlery sold them in 2 or 3 blade styles.cheap feeling knives(at least mine is}.hope this helps.

Of course it's impossible to prove a negative, but I don't believe that knife was ever issued by any law enforcement or military organization.

Ah, so is this like the pantographic knife, where some slick salesman thought that a weird design would sell better with a cool backstory?

If we can't track down any real facts, I'll mention that such knives were imported to America under the "Chinese police knife" story, but that no substantiation has been found.

Anyone else?

I travel to Asia often for business (10-12 year) as well as have lived in China, HK and Japan since 1985.

I have never seen a knife carried by a LEO outside of border police -who are para-military in organization. They often will have some sort of pocketknife, but these would be personal property.

I think you may be confusing it with their telescoping batons which I have seen carried by China police as well as Japanese police. Some of these look exactly like an ASP baton while others have had guards on them.
