Confiscated Knives

We had a earlier thread on "Lost Knives". This is more specific, knives confiscated by Customs, Airports Police etc. I'm not condoning illegal activity, mainly just ignorance or nebulous laws. Mine are all Australian Customs seizures except for a Italian switchblade confiscated when police searched my house for drugs back in my misspent youth. A friend had brought it back from Germany. Seems like Charlie Mike could write a book on his experiences, most of my Customs seizures were listed on the earlier thread.Unfortunately I bet a lot of Australians have a lot of Customs stories to tell with our ever changing laws. How is it in other countries?

Indeed I could... IIRC, I have plead guilty between 5-10 times for individual charges of possession/sales/manufacture of switchblade knives in CA. I could ponder the amount of knives I have lost to The Man all day and still forget a few. The most recent was a violation of probation arrest in Spring of 2008 that resulted in the loss of a MT Combat Troodon and a customized BM42. I did a month in county for that.

Charlie Mike, I have to ask a question as we are both knife lovers ( you have a few great tatoos of them!), but if you have gotten in trouble to the point of jail time and have had numerous arrests, then why still carry illegal types knives in CA? I am a former NYC LEO and I only carry knives that are legal for the activity I am doing at the time. I have a clean record, former LEO ID card, and NYC firearms permit, but I still obey the knife laws ( even if I in princilpe disagree with them). You also must be drawing attention to yourself some how for all those stops? Either way, sorry to hear about the loss of your knives!

I stopped carrying illegal knives when I rediscovered the wave opener. To this day, we only own 2 autos. Those are a pair of 1st prod run MT UT6s and they are our engagement knives. I haven't been arrested or "detained" since my DUI on 11-20-08.

Thanks for the response. If my memory is correct you had a great custom swing guard no? You don't have it anymore??!!!

Traded it to Apophysis7 in carried used condition for 2tone MT Nemi4 when they first came out. After a bad experience with a HaloV, I ended up selling off my OTFs when I realized how sensitive all the parts can be to some sort of failure. Give me a waved TriAd or framelock any day. I'd still buy a Vallotten Viper if I had the means though ;)

All the knives I own are on my YouTube channel with the exception of a Brend Dagger logo Nemi that I briefly owned when I first started seeing my wife.

What tipped off the LEOs that you might be carrying illegally? Was it a motor vehicle stop that resulted in a "hit" during the check for warrants? The way that you dress? Your general demeanor while in public? Just curious. I have carried knives concealed since I was 8 years old. I am almost 51 now and still EDC. Never had a LEO encounter that resulted in the discovery of the knife, a hassle or an arrest.

Almost always, I was doing stupid/illegal shit. I didn't really agree with a lot of laws back then and didn't mind jail so much. Before that I lost some primo knives to the MPs because they were saying state law (KY) supersedes Ft Campbell regs and such and such. I never put up a "fight" and in some cases, I had my knives taken but as never arrested or charged.

Hey guys, Here is a report that the Australian Customs Service have had "manufactured" by one of our great Sandstone unis and a Germ with a Private Consultacy company. I would appreciate any insights - hoping some Boffin out there might be able to find me a glaring inconsistency/assumption/fanciful figure in his calculations. no doubt the Customs Robots backed off the hinge too to make them open easier. I just bough one here in Brisbane Australia to get some test done and after about 5 "flicks you can get it 1/2 out then locked. Maybe I am just a regular pusssy not a Customs hero with big wanker bicepts. https://acrobat.com/#d=TKGXY0jjJOPkdYjumnb6LA thanks guys n girls. All the best and safe travels Wayne. waynejean77@hotmail.com

Felony convictions? Loss of Second Amendment rights?

That last beef happened while I was on felony probation.

I understand. Knives are your primary weapon since, as a convicted felon, you cannot possess a firearm or ammunition. Many people like yourself, who are prohibited persons under federal law, keep knives around for defensive purposes, including my friend's brother.

I don't know about you, but I don't carry a knife as a weapon. It's a cutting tool.

I've never had to cut anything more aggressive than a cardboard box, but I suppose it's a question of cutting what needs to be cut.....

Never had anything taken. Got into it with a cop over the phone once tho. My brother was out driving my charger(lowered, tint, exhaust, ect ect) and got pulled over for "excessive noise" whe he dtopped into 2nd gear pulling off the freeway. He opened the glove box to grab papers and my buck 119 was sitting there. The cop said he was gonna take it and my brother called me. I told him over the phone if he did not hand my knife back to my brother I would file charges for theft. He gave it back and let my brother go with no ticket.
