I had read that the pocketknives made 100% in the Solingen factory were marketed saying Manufactur with a Solingen shield, but I see on their website a couple saying Manufactur with. Germany shield? Are these China made?

Boker is a really large company with factories worldwide. Your best bet is to check the actual knife to see it's country of origin.

Yeah, as D Danke42 mentions, not all Boker are made in Solingen. Their website is totally transparent depending on the model - the country of origin is always indicated. Most good retailers are equally clear. To be fair, you can tell by looking at the price in most cases.

I got a Boker Plus mini tech tool and when shopping around looking at Ruike knives, realized that these are the same as the Ruike S11. So I ordered a Ruike S21 with bottle opener. Only the markings and scales are different.

Well, like all these big companies, you have to keep your investors happy. In the beginning there was Böker Solingen, knives made by germans in Solingen. Then came along Böker Arbolito, knives made in Argentina for the south-american market. And then we have Böker+, made in China using designs of knife makers like Charles Marlow, Jim Burke, Chad Los Banos, Jim Wagner, Doug Hartsook, Jesper Voxnaes, Todd Rexford, and so on. Then finally Magnum by Böker which are chinese made knives that are often found with other big name brands. Kind of, lets just pick out a model, order 50,000 pieces, get their logo lasered on the blade, and sell them. Example: in 2014, the boss of Böker accused Schrade (Taylor Brands) of selling counterfeit Böker knives. Schrade put out a frame-lock flipper, model no. SCH601TI wich vaguely resembled the Böker+ Sal Manaro Bulls Eye Grip. Schrade backed off (quite a collector now!). Well thats what happens when you close factories, fire workers, outsource, and delocalize.....Have a nice day, Michel Droz, CH.

Made in Germany from imported parts. Or assembled in Germany with imported parts is probably more accurate.

Magnum line - China, Boker plus - Taiwan ( and China, but I'm not very sure), Germany - Solingen.

Böker knives marked Germany are not entirely made in Solingen. Böker plus knives are made in China, Taiwan, Italy and USA.

So, if it does not say Solingen..but does say Germany, where is it made?

Agree.

Marked "Solingen" means made entirely in Germany.
Marked"Germany" means assembled and finished in Germany.

Other than that particular point, the Boker web site is reasonably clear as to where different knives are made.

I had a Boker stockman way back, about 45 years ago. Seems to have gone missing. I have another little 2-bladed pen knife that my Dad used to clean his pipe, but the small blade was busted off. They were right nice carbon steel blades. Memories ...

Ive noticed alot of German knives are marked Solingen steel. that means its german steel made in China. Many older Solingen knives were marked rostfrei as well on the tang.keep an eye out on the tang marks.
