Hi all, I'm interested in the Kershaw Spec/speed bump folder having read some of the threads on these forums. WWW.THEKERSHAWSTORE.COM (all lower case) lists three items..............Prepare to be dazzled!!!
SPEC/SPEED BUMP (PLAIN) FOR $71.95
SPEED BUMP (PLAIN) FOR $58.95
AND
SPEC/BUMP (PLAIN) FOR $118.95
Got your shades on yet???
Looking at the write ups for each they seem to be the same!
Or possibly those two short planks are my brothers!!!
Can anyone shed any light??????????............Is it just me??

I would say the $70 Spec/Speed bump is for the early version with the 3D machined G10, the $60 Speed Bump is for the current version with the plastic/rubberized grips, and the Spec/Bump is for the original Spec Bump with the better steel and 3D machined G10. You might want to write them, though. Some companies are better with their descriptions than others. I haven't found any particularly good deals at that website, and their descriptions were a little wanting. Hope that helps some  ?

zpaulg, the Bump variations can get a bit confusing, but we wanted a price point for most everyone, so here is a quick breakdown of the one's you mention:

The Spec/Speed Bump was a 500 piece run we did for one of our larger distributors. It has 3-D machined G-10 scales, and Sandvick 13C26 steel (bead blast finish).

The Speed Bump is being shipped for the first time this month, and is regular production. It has a double injected molded scales (Akulon with a textured Santoprene over-mold) and also incorperates 13C26 (bead blast finish).

The Spec Bump is also regular production, it has 3-D machined G-10 scales along with S30V steel (black DLC coating).

The size on all 3 are the same, and they all utilize the Stud Lock.

Hopefully that helps a little.

Just so there is not any additional confusion, the kershawstore.com has no affiliation with Kershaw Knives Kai USA.

I bought the "Speed /Spec" bump last month for around $76.00 shipped, it's a real bargain.

Thanks very much guys, that's cleared the fog considerably. Talk about having the knowledge, this forum is like the Encarta of the knife world!!

Thomas, can the Speed Bump clip be switched to tip-up? That's been a deal-breaker for me so far on the Spec Bumps. If you definitely want my money, make a Bump that's tip-up and with your new off-switch for the AO. :)

I know, we're all difficult. :D

Sorry Nick, the Speed Bump can not be set up for tip up carry. SpeedSafe on/off is also not an option at this time. Wish we could accommodate you all.
