20 Field knives (basic and signature) in a tweaked version of Delta 3V at HRC62 and a few in Magnacut. Also some in Cruwear now.

Also, 10 light choppers.

We are starting to run low on some of the inventory. We are out of 3V Basic Field Knives, they are all gone.

So, are Delta 3V Basics available?

A little unclear in my original post, but I thought all future knives were only in the Tweaked Delta 3V. When I asked 2 weeks ago, no 3V basics, tweaked or otherwise.

Basic in Magnacut and Cruwear also

Yes, at the last sale, I was looking for one in tweaked Delta 3V, and was told no basics in 3V were available, period.

Delta 3V and "tweaked" Delta 3V are a bit confusing, though, due to the name similarity. Again, the first line above says some Basics and Signatures in "tweaked Delta 3V" are available, but the last line says no basics in Delta 3V.

So, yes to tweaked and no to the old heat treat version? Or no to both 3V versions?

Nathan tends to copy and paste the same template for his biweekly sales so he may have to correct that part for unambiguity. He noted in one of his past sales (or maybe in an older post in the Next Sale thread) that they were sold out on all of their tweaked D3V BFK version (he switched over from the original D3V to the tweaked version a while back for the BFK pattern and also the signature series BFK pattern, commonly referred to as FK3).

I have a strong hunch that he may still have held back a few of those Basic FK version in his tweaked D3 to present at his table at Blade Show ATL in this June, but as far as his future Fridays sales go, the BFK will only be available in CW and MC steels.

They are out of basic FK in D3V (tweaked or otherwise).
You can get a basic in Cruwear or Magnacut.

FK3/Signature is still available in D3V (it’s the tweaked version). Or Magnacut or Cruwear.

All three steels are available on the FK3/ signature.
Only Cruwear and Magnacut are available in the BFK/basic.

That’s how I read it and how it was in the past sale.

Hello

Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist mentioned this also in your last thread

FWIW, I have a Magnacut coming from the previous sale! While I have a slight preference for 3V, however it is referenced, I spend enough time on the Texas coast that Magnacut seemed like a worthy alternative for me.

I don't pretend to be a reasonable metallurgist, however, in the past, I found 3V to be pretty rust-resistant in general, and its general performance is hard to beat. Grind and heat treat matter as well in terms of performance, and CPK does it really well!

Congrats!

The signature model feels like a different knife!

If you can you should try one out!

Not very noticeable. For me the biggest difference in use is the jimping on the thumb ramp, which I prefer. If you're going to be processing firewood and batoning, I'd suggest going with the basic. You won't have a hard time finding one in D3V on the secondhand market. If money isn't a factor and you like the looks of the swedge and the jimping, spring for the signature. It does feel ever-so-slightly lighter in hand and it's a beautiful knife. You absolutely can't go wrong either way.

The signature is lighter and better balanced and exhibits the refinement and excellence we're known for. The basic is also a good knife, but it's, well, basic.

While it has better fit and finish than is typical in the industry, the design details are a little bit more mainstream and not taken to the levels we do on the signature. It was made to compete at a price point competitive with more mainstream manufacturers, but still utilizing the same advanced metallurgy we're known for.

The excellent sheath and hand grip is just a bonus. But, obviously, I prefer the signature.

What should I do, if I'd like to get a signature FK in D3V or Cru-Wear?

Where is the sale? How does it work?

click the link, comment what you want. If you want two field knives comment twice once for each iteration

Post in the for sale thread shown above with what you want, and Jo will reach out to you if you have PM's enabled or have an email address they can find. You can also reach out to their website to confirm your interest, and Jo will respond.
