Confusion on some Spyderco Para-military 2s online

Hey spyderguys, this is my first post here. I just have a question regarding some discrepancies I seem to have stumbled into with the para-military 2 on several different websites. I want to make sure I am purchasing a true spyderco para-military 2 and not a scam or some older model/para-military 1.

When I do a search for para 2, the amazon result is as follows: http://www.amazon.com/Spyderco-ParaMilitary2-Black-PlainEdge-Knife/dp/B003X9WKOO Now, to me, it *looks* like a para 2 from the pic, but the item number is "C81GP". The spyderco 2011 product guide I have says the Spyderco ParaMilitary 2 G-10 Plain Edge Knife is just "C81G". Additionally, the knife is listed as a "Para-Military", and not a "Para-military 2".

So my question is, is this amazon entry a legit para 2? Did they mess up the name/item number? Or is this an older gen para 1, or some kind of scam?

Additionally, I checked spydercostore.com to try and clear this up, but the one listed there has an item number of "C81GP2", which also differs from the buyer's guide. Here's the link to that knife: http://www.thespydercostore.com/Spyderco-Para-Military-2-Plain-Edge-Knife-p/c81gp2.htm

I apologize is this is confusing. I just want to make sure I am getting a good deal on a real para 2, and not end up with the wrong knife :)

I appreciate anyone's help on this matter.

Thanks,
Hunter

Thank you for your response! You just saved me some money. I appreciate you clearing that up for me.

To add to what Ken said for future reference, if you can see the handle scales well enough in the pictures, a Para 2 will have clip holes at both the pivot end and the back end of the handle. P2s offer 4-way clip positioning. P1s only offered RHTD positioning.

What is the deal with spydercostore.com as of 2022, is it a legit store or a front / Scam. I’m

I would not buy knives on Amazon. I have seen where someone buys a knife and it is a Chinese copy. I expect what happens is someone realizes a knife is a copy and buys a similar knife from Amazon and then returns the chinese copy. You could always return it if that happens, but sometimes the copies are close to the original.

Buy from known legitimate sources or take your chances.

I wouldn't buy a knife on Amazon.
There are a few models out right now that are really nice and from legit businesses.

There are plenty of legit dealers around who offer lowest available prices, free shipping as well as dealer exclusive versions of the PM2 and other Spydercos. Many of them support this site as well.

Yeah - I won't by Spyderco knives of $100+ on Amazon. Plenty of better dealers to buy from.

When in doubt, go to spyderco.com and use their dealer locator. I seem to recall the site you list not being a legit dealer, but my memory is far from perfect.
