Confusion with Higo no Kami

Been seeing more and more of these and I ordered one off eBay a few months ago and was pretty disappointed. Super soft steel, lots of blemishes on the blade. Did I just get a really poorly made one or are they all like this?

It would take a little more information to form any kind of response to your query. Who made your knife? Where? What is the blade steel?

Higo no kami are cheap. They're the Japanese equivalent to the mercater, puma, opinel svord etc. The essence of a higo is that it is affordable, a cutting tool for the masses.
You should still be able to find one with decent steel though, blemishes on the blade, poor construction and cheap handles are standard but not soft steel.
Of course there are makers out there making really fancy higo no kami but that's not what you should expect.

Okay. I was just wondering. I like the style of it but I never carry it because of how easily it chips. Thanks! I'll probably end up buying another soon.
