Published again in latest Blade Magazine.
Great article about - dare I say - using customs.
I never knew you could use them, thought they were for looks only. :D
Learn something new everyday!

Anyways, back to Roger. He kinda has a movie star quality about him.
Smile reminds me of Eddie Murphy.

Keep up the good work. You buying the first round in Atlanta?

Eddie Murphy??! Haha! I am not sure I see it but thats a cool picture and makes me want a little Burt Foster knife. Especially after seeing how happy Roger is.

Congrats on the article. Congrats to Kevin too.

Nice article. We could use more articles from the collector prospective.

Congrats, Derrick and Roger and thanks Jon.

now i know: i NEED a subscription to BLADE. i thought Knife World was enough. roland

PROPS out to Kevin Jones, Stephen Foster and everyone involved in the BladeForums Bowie - great write up, worthy cause. Sorry for missing you guys. :(

Thanks Michael, gents.

It will be a while before I get the mag - Canada lags behind in distribution - but I sure am looking forward to it.

Whatever the future of custom knives holds for me, the BFB Bowie project will always rank among the most thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding. While I was pleased to see the knife itself mentioned twice in a previous issue of the ABS magazine, I was a bit disappointed (though not particularly surprised) that there was no mention whatsoever of the involvement of the forums. I feel that the project itself is a credit to all of the individuals involved and to the forums as a whole.

This is the first and only article I have co-written but I hope it won't be the last. I really like Stephen's style.

It is likely less aparent to those from the outside looking in, but Kevin's role in organising so many varied aspects of the project cannot be understated. His name isn't on the knife or on the author's line for the article, but his role was the most central.

The "using knives" article was just a hoot to write. I officially blame George for getting me interested in slipjoints. His passion was infectious. Todd and Derrick were a real pleasure to deal with as well - two really good guys who really know their stuff.

Eddie Murphy?? :p I'd trade the smile for a movie star paycheck in a hurry - then go completely nuts at Blade.

Hope to see all of the old gang and meet as many of the new gang as I can.

Roger

The little lady just went out to grab one for me.

Cool of you to give props to those that deserve it.:thumbup:

Great article, Roger! Well written, I enjoyed it much.

Also congrats to Kevin and the BF Bowie group. And a Cover Shot no less

Roger, Thanks for including me in your article. I,m glad I got you interested in slipjoints. There's always room in the pocket for another knife. And maybe your right, I might just be a collector. What's the first step, admitting it?

After seeing this thread earlier today and being a bit of a fan of Roger's, I decided to run to the bookstore after work to pick up a copy since I'm not a subscriber (please don't tell anyone). When I got there I was more than a little disapointed to discover that it wasn't on the shelf yet...damn! :grumpy:

Guess I'll have to wait a little longer, but I'll be checking daily 'til they decide to pony up the mag. :D

Thanks Michael, Roger and Don. Appreciate it. The Blade Forum Bowie project has also been the hightlight of my custom knife collecting experience.

paint, Blade doesn't usually show up on the newsstands until about a week after subscribers get theirs.

A collectors missing a lot IMO, if not subscribing to Blade. It and the Knife Annuals are practically text books of custom knife collecting.

Good point Kevin. I've bought the annuals for the past three years and will continue to do so, but I've always avoided subcribing with the thought that I'll just buy the issues that really interest me. Though I guess for the price of a few off the news stand I could have them all and save myself the trip.

Thanks again to all involved in the BF Bowie project. Great to see the recognition in print in Blade.

Always enjoy your articles, Roger. Having one written on using customs was a treat to see and good reading.

Roger did an outstanding job with that article. He's a very talented writer whose passion for knives and skill with words makes him among the most enjoyable contributors to read in the knife world.

Can't wait to see what he writes about next time :)
