I'm trying to get a picture in my mind of an exotic toast cutter. I'd sure appreciate somebody posting a pic here of one.

They are devices for removing the crust from toast. In a nutshell, it was a sort of interesting challenge to some knife makers and it resulted in some interesting contraptions. The pictures are very good.

Most of these devices are not flat. Most knives are really flat when you get down to it. This simplifies photographing them. Photographing a 3-dimensional object is much more complex and Sharp By Coop certainly did a fine job of answering that challenge.

Now you've really got my interest. Do you think he would mind if somebody posted a couple of the pics here, or in the gallery or wherever suitable?

You'd have to ask him... and, indeed, you'd have to ask him. The other option is to pry a fiver out of your snapper purse and go and buy the magazine. If you run, it just might still be available.

I'm not sure they sell it here. I'll search one of the larger newsagents next time I'm near one and see.

Well, imagine my surprise and flattered look when I opened up this thread. Yes, I did have an opportunity to capture the great work of a number of talented knifemakers, as they each designed and built a knife, contraption, or object that would simply cut 'toast crusts'. What imagination and skill THEY brought to the project. As I always try to defer the kudos back to the makers instead of myself, so I will again.

But, Chuck, thanks for noticing. :) Those Toast Cutters were not something I was familiar with shooting, and it presented a considerable challenge to show the larger 3-D versions best. (Any good studio photographer would have figured that out easily, but I needed to figure it out on my own.)

Since you asked, here is a link to ALL of the images I shot of this series of knives: http://www.fototime.com/inv/4692696EA1FC92D

Glad you enjoyed the read. Buddy Thomasen did a spectacular job on the writeup.

Lastly, I am priviledged once again to be included at least 6 times in the latest issue of Blade, under Julie Warenski's feature, the Filework article, and more.

Back to some photo editing.... ;)

Interesting collection of gadgets, very impressive.

.. and yes, bloody good photography too. Well done. :)

The pictures were wonderful and so was the article. I like when magazines featur something a little different like that. I wanted one for a few hours after reading the article, and I don't even eat toast that often.
