Wow, I just got my new KI and flipped through it... I see a LOT of friends/fellow forumites names, photos, and work in there!

The article on new Mastersmiths - Bill Burke, J. Neilson, Russ Andrews, Henry Torres...

Fisk Microshow - Kevin Jones, Jim Treacy, Chuck Kerwin, Bob Starkey

Matt Lamey article by Les Robertson

There's probably more, my apologies if I missed anyone. I just thought it was really cool to see so many familiar names/faces!!! :D

Don't know why, but I don't see KI locally? Looked at Barnes & Noble, Borders and Walgreens?

How would those that read both compare KI to Blade?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter.
I get/read both however find that Blade seems to have more related to traditional custom knives than KI.
Both are very good in my opinion though.

I see a trend towards knife magazines focusing more on traditional customs though.
Tactical Knives has a "Tactical Customs" section where they seem to be showcasing more "traditional" customs lately. My Kyle Royer fighter and Don Hanson dagger, Keith Montgomery's Russ Andrews fighter, a bowie from Harry and Charlie Mathews, a Stephen Fowler fighter, Bob Betzner's D' Holder Bowie were featured there recently. It surprised me as I don't really consider any of these as pieces "tacticals". (March 2009; pg. 50)

But as far as I'm concerned, any exposure for traditional custom knives is good exposure.

I read both. Both need better editing, but I tend to like the photography in KI better. I also like that it comes out bi-monthly rather than monthly and thus provides more time to finish before seeing the next issue. Blade, on the other hand, because it is monthly, sometimes does not provide enough time for me to finish reading before I get the next issue.
