Congratulations Spyderco!

How sad. Import knife of the year. No surprise because almost all spyderco are made over seas now. Come back to the states and I'll buy!

As Sal said, most of the most popular Spydercos are made in Golden, CO. Still, there are a few that are made overseas that are pretty wonderful and it is still an American company employing Americans.

The Taichung Spydies are the best IMO. The Golden offerings are nice and your bread and butter but the real lookers and innovators are, I think, done in Taichung. I am personally most excited for the Paul Alexander Ikuchi.

The Taichung Spydies typically are my favourite as well. Usually the highest end models are made in Taichung which I have no problem with, I let the knives speak for themselves.

I actually get excited to see a Spyderco I like is being made in Taichung. My favourite Golden model is the Pikal though.

Anyway congradgeelashuns Spoiderko!

I take it you know nothing about the history of Spyderco. For the first decade they didn't even have a production facility, all of their knives were made overseas by contract. The first U.S. made Spyderco knives were contracted out as well. Profits from those sales allowed them to build their own manufacturing facility in Golden. How can they "come back to the States" when they didn't start here?

Every one should own and experience a Taiwan made Spyderco. They are exceptional.

Really like the Spyderco Sub-Hilt Vallotton and that comes from the Taichung factory.

I still check almost every day if the Paysan is shipping. It is a really good looking knife.

I know the history and thanks! Spyderco should have won domestic knife of the year but so much of their production is overseas. This hurts from someone who loves the Manix 2 and the Para2 both knockout usa made offerings. It's just sad so few are made in the usa.

USA vs. China... cool story.

I am pretty stoked for this integral. Curious to see if any nirvana folks are getting in on the paysan. What say ye nirvana fans?

They are making more knives in the USA now than ever before in history. They had to expand their factory and they still can't keep up with demand. How is that sad? I think the sad part is they can't hire enough qualified people to keep up.
