Just received an email from Lydia that Scott passed!
There was never really any doubt in my mind with the knives that had been posted over the last couple of weeks.
Not really sure which ones he submitted but I'm sure he'll let us know.

The final five were the Alamo, Zulu, Mamba, Cottonmouth, and the Diamondback.

WELL DONE, Scott!

Congratulations! I know y'all put so much time, energy, and heart into getting to this level. I hope you're able to take a little time to really enjoy this moment. Some day you'll look back and remember the joy and sense of accomplishment that you shared with your family and loved ones if you do.

Well done. With what I have seen posted on here recently there was no doubt in my mind that Scott would not get his JS stamp.

Thanks Michael and everyone else! Your support and kind comments have kept a very nervous bladesmith going through this very stressful time.

Here are the final five. Scott was planning to put El Toro on the table with the Alamo, Zulu, Diamondback, and Mamba, but a commissioned Cottonmouth that he finished just before we left trumped it. Scott was supposed to drive to San Antonio but a last minute change gave him a few more days at home, and I don't think he knew what else to do with himself. The Cottonmouth photo doesn't do it justice, as I took a quick a dirty pic just before we left (and it really was dirty; the back was still coated in oil), but Eric Eggly just photographed the whole set, and I can't wait to get my copies.

All fantastic looking knives, I especially like the Alamo. Thanks for showing them.

Congrats to Scott and Lydia! I'm not surprised, but I know it's NOT easy.

Good stuff. I'm pleased for this. Eric's work will be SO sweet!

Congrats. They look great.

Question because I'm now a bit confused about the JS process. I thought the performance part of the test was done anytime during the year but the judging of fit/finish/etc of the five knives happen only during the Blade show in June when all JS submissions were judged at the same time. Did this change or was that never true?

Congratulations Scott.
Even though it wasn't easy I had no doubt you were going to pass with flying colors.

Congrats Scott, but I think we all knew your knife making abilities shown thru......

Thanks to all. I feel much better now.

This is the first time they've ever tested in San Antonio. Previously, Blade was the only option.

Scott
