I hope you will join me in extending your congratulations to Dan Farr. Winner of this year's Blade Show's "Best New Maker".

Having judged at the Blade Show before. I can tell you there is a lot of competition in this category and to win is quite an honor.

For those of you who have not seen Dan's work in person, do so at your earliest opportunity.

Dan's skills and abilities belie his short time as a knife maker. There is no doubt that Dan will be a ABS Master Smith in the not to distant future.

Do yourself a favor and buy them now.

Congratulations Dan! Way to go! That award is definitely something to be proud of.

Those of you unfamiliar with his work, Dan recently posted some very nice pictures in the Gallery. Check out the thread here

Congratulations on the fine work and the well deserved honor.

Jeez, Dave, I figured that that was the subliminal message. ;)

Hi Dave,

You are so Jaded!

You will note I do not have a single Dan Farr knife for sale....yet.

Yes I do plan on selling Dan's knives. Of course we talked about that before he won the award.

Actually, the reason for my post was more to let people know who frequent the custom forum here at BF that one of our own did an exceptional thing.

Les,
Thanks. The real credit goes to the many makers like Roger Massey who seem to have endless patience and time to help, associations like the ABS who support shcools and foster an brotherhood of talent anxious to share and encourage, and businessmen/knifeguru's like Les that generously give you an insight into the working of the knife bussiness. I supplied only enthusiasm. Maybe a little passion.

Anyways all the new maker's knives were such high quality I really didn't think I had a chance. They had to page me to go to the Blade Show office late Friday to pick up the award and get my picture taken. I figured the other knives were so nice, one of them had won.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to stop at my table and look. It was a kick!

Congrat's Dan!

The first time I saw Dan's knives I was 'WOWED!' Obviously, others were too. Keep us posted!

Thanks, Les for pointing this out to us.

What a exceptional honor to have bestowed on you and your creativity !

Of what I've seen so far (no pun intended) ~ exceptional blade work !

Mucho Congrats ! ! ! :D

Didn't realize that the beautiful 5160 fighter with walnut handle in the Gallery Forum was Dan's. I should pay more attention. From what I have seen of Dan's knives he certainly deserved the award he was given.

Dan's knives are EXCEPTIONAL!

He and I had talked via email quite a few times and he was on my list of people to meet at the show. Unfortunately, I was unable to find his name on the show listing and forgot what he told me his table # was.

Friday night while waiting for the elevator I happened to turn around and see this nametag that read "Dan Farr"

I put out my hand, and I think for a moment he thought I was some whack-job. HHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA ;) Then he realized who I was and he shook my hand and knew for sure that I was a whack-job ;)

Dan and his brother were really great and his knives are superb. He will be a mastersmith in short order I'm sure.

Congratulations on a well deserved award Dan!

I stopped by Dan's table and visited a little while. I was impressed-very clean practical designs, and the finish on his curly maple handles superior to many oldtimers who have been specializing in that type of handle for years. He is a gentleman and enthusiastic about his work.

Congratulations Dan!

Looks like a pretty darn good group already appreciates you and your work.
