I wanted to congratulate Darrin Sanders Darrin Sanders and @Ankerson for their new for 2018 bowie from Spyderco.

I had the pleasure of testing two of Darrin's customs in a passaround a while back and will subsequently be placing an order for one of my own. Hopefully sooner rather than later as I can imagine he'll be busy in the coming months.

I'm sure everyone here is familiar with Jim and the sheer lunacy involved in his steel tests. Thanks for doing the work that I'm far too lazy for.

Mostly though I wanted to point out the massive achievement that Darrin has pulled off; a signature in design.

I saw the knife in BladeHQ's Spyderco session from Shot 2018 on YouTube. Eric picked the two bowies up off the table and I thought to myself, "that one looks like a Darrin Sanders."

I didn't expect it to be one. I wasn't aware that he and Jim were working on it. I just saw the knife and thought of him. That's not easy to do in such a subtle way.

Sure, you can cut a big hole in the blade like Spyderco, put a wave on the top like Emerson or make it look like a Klingon war ship like Esham and be recognized without a logo, but there's nothing that garish here. It's a subtle, simple bowie that caused me to think, "that looks like a Sanders."

Nicely done you two. It's a good looking knife and I hope it sells well.

You can see the knife in this video. I wasn't able to locate a photo yet.

I think I like the design on that one a little more than the Respect. It has an updated look to it. Congratulations to the designers, that's one helluva achievement!

For those interested, the Bowie talk starts around 8 minutes in(a little before actually).

Congrats Jim & Darrin, I'm sure anything you two came up with is a fantastic cutter. I'll pick one up just to show support to fellow bladeforums members.

I like it a lot. Sal's bowie is more of a fighting blade, which is cool, but doesn't do me much good. Darrin's seems to be a lot more practical. That classic bowie profile in a camp knife package.

Congratulations to both of you! Also, curse you both for putting a hurting on my wallet, because I may need that knife! Also, do we have a model name? I've mentally tagged it as the Spyderco AnkerSanders for now. ;)

I honestly don't know. They have a lot of irons in the fire so I try not to bother them much. If anybody gets a chance, grab Eric or Sal and see if they have a name in mind. Whatever it is, I hope its ready to go by Blade.

Agreed, I'll have to do the same. Then find somebody to weld that damned hole shut.

nice going fellas. looks like a winner.

I think what you saw was the soul of the maker in his design! That is cool!

Something manly and rugged I hope. Like the "Petunia" or the "Betty White."

"Deadly Daisy" ? Or if you want something flower related that sounds less manly and rugged you could call it "Thorn"

Congrats, I quite like both designs, I might just have to get one of them to fill my bowie/camp quota, you know you gotta be PC these days, can't neglect any knife minorities in your collection. ;)
