Congress - case new and older

Have had the older case congress since early 90's. I picked it up at a corner hardware store in a small Illinois town. I have always liked just opening and closing all the blades. I picked up a new version in damascus and think I might start a small collection of this pattern. The older congress is a bit sleeker and slimmer and thinner with superb fit and finish. The new one is
a bit thicker all the way around with good fit and finish. The blades on the damascus one don't rub when opening and closing which may be due to the little bit of extra space. Anyway I wanted to share -

Also, thanks to all of you on the traditional forum...I had forgotten how much I like slipjoints

smitty, will definitely be carrying it. I used to carry the older one but to be honest the congress is not the most useful pattern for me. It is just one I really like. Especially when all the blades fold in so nice together!

I think it was named for guys that sat around the local courthouse/congress whittling. An orginal whittler? I have always liked the pattern...good question!
capt carl.... To be honest they are not too practical for what I usually need a knife for, but I just like all the blade shapes and the way they fold up so neat!

Thanks for the explanation. That would make sense. There are so many choices on that knife! How long does it take ya to pick a blade to use? I would just be standing there in contemplation. Hah!

Your knife is extraordinarily beautiful. Love that damascus.
