I have been looking for a congress pattern knife that has 4 different blades and just can't find one. Instead of looking at page after page of knives I finally hit myself on the head and realized that if I asked the experts I might get a little help. Anyone have an idea for me. Thanks and Have A Great Thanksgiving to All.

What I like the most about Case Congress' is they have four different blades and (I believe) three if not four sizes.

Mike

And the older Case congress knives have the more traditional two, (instead of four skinny) backsprings.
Though, truth be told, I've done a ton of whittling with my Yellow CV version with four springs and it's held up just fine over the past 10 or eleven years.

Any other companies beside Case guys. And thanks very much for the quick replies. Jamppa really appreciate it. I was thinking the 3 5/8 size, those Case are a little large. Am I right or not?

The Boker is nice because it has 1095 blade steel instead of the 1075 equivalent used on most of their other carbon blades. (Two backsprings and the scales are nice as well.)

I'm with Elliot and not a fan of the skinny back springs on the new case..older is better....
Another idea is the S&M Series XVI Congress

I have been carrying one of these for some time now. It has good looks, strong springs and great blade steel that holds an edge very well.

I also carry an Umnumzaan and with the Queen Congress, I really like having most of my blade choices covered and handy.

The Congress, I think fills the void of blade choices when carrying a large folder. IMHO

I got that same knife and it is a brute. I'm looking for something in the midsize range with 4 different blades. Just cant find it.

Zerogee just took care of me. Got a medium sized yellow congress in 1095 , 4 different blades. Perfect! I love doing business with a fellow forumite. Thanks Guys, and thanks Zerogee for the PM.

The Case 64052 medium congress is 3 5/8". Maybe you don't want Case at all, but I was not sure. I think this is a 7 dot. Aslo think this is one of those SS only patterns. I did not see one in CV anyway. Could be a + or - either way.

Smart idea though, getting the rest of us to search page after page... :D

NEVERMIND!!! a yellow one in CV sounds great, now I want one too.

Thanks thawk! I asked all of you to help me out because you see----I'm old and suffer from Flinthills disease. Hahah. If I don't drive through the Flints at lease 4 times a year my whole body squeeks and I have to oil my joints.

IIRC, all the dotted series of 64052s were CV (they didn't come any other way). I'm not sure just when Case started making this pattern in SS. However, of the modern versions, I think the only CV version was the 34052 for a few years in the 1990s -- unless there are a few SFO 64052s running around with CV blades. Someone with a more detailed knowledge of modern Case production might want to weigh in on that.

I found several of them now. I'm not too keen on my pattern numbers. :o Thanks. And I don't get out in the Flint Hills enough, even though they are just a few miles out.

This is the one that got me interested in congress patterns, and I haven't been able to find one like it since. It's only 440 steel, but the fit and finish is actually pretty good.

The 052 pattern was never made in stainless prior to the mid 1980's. The original old style 64052 in CV and bone was discontinued in 1981. All of them after that for a long time were SFO's only and in SS only. Case went through several rounds of changing the tooling during the 80's and 90's before coming up with the current four backspring configuration in the mid 1990's.

For a long time the only CV version was the yellow one made for a short time...but a couple of years ago they brought out a red bone version in CV, though I am not sure whether its still in the product line for this year. Case can be vexing in that they are always discontinuing knives to add new ones to keep the novelty factor up for collectors.
