Can't find anything beyond the initial report. A local news radio station was at the Longworth Building when it was evacuated and reported live as police "with long range guns" surrounded the building.

They will be there tomorow for some status hearing (statehood vs. independence fo the island).

Guess I'll have to call the station up and ask.

I can find no mention of any evacuation of the Longworth Building.

It has a link to a yahoo news story that does not work so who knows. IIRC, this would not be the first time that there were such problems in the Longworth Building; I believe something similar also happened last year.

Benn busy I'll call the radio station today and see what I can find.

Probably an exercise since I can not find anything on it. Has not been mentioned again on the radio (Probably too embarased to bring it up since they broke into a popular program with their great Live Coverage ).

Is it common for cops to pull out long guns for an exercise at that location?

I googled and the only link I found was from a January, 11, 2007 evacuation atributed to a false alarm.
