I was at the knife show in Waterbury today and really had a nice time. The atmosphere there is laid back and there's a different crowd than at the NY shows. Also, a lot more antique knives. I saw more Scagels today than at any other place in one time. A lot of really nice folks. A couple of you have mentioned the show in other threads. Anybody else see or do anything interesting there?

I had a chance to talk with our own TOMW while I was there.

He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet...... even gave me a beautiful Snakeskin pouch, just for being a Forumite (thanx Tom). He also turned me on to some nice work by Canadian maker Rick Frigault.

I had a chance to meet and talk to Paul Jarvis whose work Floored me. I was never really an art knife kind of guy, but I'm seriously thinking of having him make a Balisong for me.

Other than that........ well, I got rear ended (Yup, my NEW Explorer) on the way home. That was interesting. I had about 10 Balisongs on me, and I had to make the decision to call a Conn. state trooper to the scene......... talk about nervous. I know how Conn. can be when it comes to Butterfly knives. But everyone was OK and everything worked out well (as well as can be expected anyway), so the day wasn't totaly ruined.

Because......
getting 'em open

Thank god everybody is alright. You'll own a lot of vehicles in your lifetime. They mean nothing.
It was a pleasure meeting you and learning a bit about balisongs. They were always just an interesting knife to me. It was an education talking to a serious bali fanatic.
Wish we had more time to talk

It was a great show. I'm sorry I didn't know of any of the forumites who were there. It would have been nice to meet some of you in person. You don't get to see too many handmade balisongs at shows. Even guys who make them are sometimes afraid to bring them to shows because of the legal questions. There was a maker there who had some pretty and solid looking ones in the $300-500 range (his table was right next to Gary Shaw's). Does anyone know his name or how to contact him?
