I like looking at pictures of axes. I figured that you guy's do as well. I'm not trying to impose my activities on anyone or be an attention. . . prostitute? Can we say the word I mean here? I just get excited about new projects, and I thought you might as well. . . Anyway's, I can see that I'm not really making much sense. Sorry.

Here's a no name Conny I hung last week on a home made Ash handle. Hope you like it.

Well done CB-R, we all seem to like the pics. Even more if we can thank the source (well I do anyway, maybe I'm sick?)

Hello, I'm Darkwolf, I think I have a problem. I have a deep need for the feel of sharp steel. :D

Amazing work on that handle. Love the sweep and the fawns foot is gorgeous.

Peg, I'm pretty sure that's the same axe only finished.

Did you make that bench yourself? (for making the handle)

She's beautiful!! Love the sweeping curves in the handle & the fawns foot...Nice workmanship on the helve and the head.

Thanks all! It is the same axe. I just cut in the fawns foot after hanging. Less chances of chipping it I've found. And yes, that's my home made $25 shave horse. Lot's of fun!

GORGEOUS!
I have a kink in my neck from looking at your rotated pix, but it was worth it.

I have to concur. That handle is absolutely gorgeous! Love the look of the grain through those sweeps too. Amazing work!!

Thanks everyone. I'm very pleased with it. Certainly exceeded my expectations. It may have a happy new home soon.

Here's another Connecticut that I hung last night. Thought you guy's might want to see it, and seeing as how it's pretty similar to the previous one, there's really no sense in starting a new thread. It's a 3.5lb. Collins Old Timer. I used the original haft in this thread as a pattern for this one. I still have no idea what the markings are on the one side. I'm pleased with it, though the octagonal aspect adds an extra degree of difficulty in the finishing process (just my opinion). I think I'll do some more work around the swell, as it's not quite as nice as the one up top. Thanks for looking.

Ok, what tools do you use to shape the haft? Draw knife & spoke shave? Wanna give lessons? Do ya need an apprentice? How 'bout a 'gopher'? Gopher coffee, gopher beer. I'll just sit in the corner an watch and take notes. :D

Really nice work. When I grow up, I want to be able to do that kind of work. :p Very cool.

Damn CB-R, you sure do fine work with wood. That octagon helve is simply beautiful. I wish I had the talent, patience to do workmanship like you do. It must give you a real sense of personal satisfaction to finish off a handle and hang it.

Again, SWEEEET!!!
Tom

Top notch work again, CB-R.
