Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy some neck knives and have been really interested in the BK11. Does anyone take theres camping? If so how do you like it as a basic/backup camp knife for food prep and general cutting? Thanks,

Heber

As far as neck knives go, it is fine. I really like mine so far. KaBar version.
A few threads down, "Naked Necker".

It would be a fantastic camp knife. I plan on taking mine with me whenever I get a chance to go camping.

Get it, you won't regret it. I've taken mine camping, hunting, field work, etc. and I love it. I did paracord wrap the handle to give it more grip. I've already used mine to field dress a couple of hogs and have also used it for food prep. It's done the job for me just fine.

Thanks guys, this is the type of information I was hoping for. Sounds like the BK11 will make a good addition to my Camp Kit/Survivial kit. :) Just waiting on the Tax return to get here..

The necker handled the skinning well but I'll be honest I could have done a better job with a longer, thinner blade for the deboning part. Overall I was satisfied with the knife but when the micarta scaled neckers come out I'm getting one pronto.

Thanks for that information. :) I apreciate that you included the part about wanting a boning knife. I plan on using the BK11 as a companion knife to something bigger.
