My brothers mother-in-law has moved to Boise which gives me a place to stay for free. Can anyone give me the rundown on big game (deer and up) hunting for non-residents? My brother mentioned deer tags are over the counter, but I'm just starting to look into it myself. I will b doing my own research through state websites, but sometimes finding the information needed can be a pain, lol. So I thought I would ask here as well.

Thanx in advance!

You may have luck down in the southern part of the state, but anywhere the wolves are is empty of elk and deer. Many of my friends back home have stopped hunting elk because there are none left. Get a wolf tag and give us a little help! Out of state 3 day license and wolf tag will run you $180; an out of state elk or deer tag is a helluva lot more, and you may not see any.

I lived in Driggs/Victor and worked in Jackson Hole. The north eastern part of the state had tons of deer and elk and I had more than one run in with moose. Many of the elk in the area travel to the refuge this time of year. Not sure what it is like in the Boise area but I know the deer are plentiful all the way down to Jackpot Nevada. Hope this helps. Fishing was good too, wish Colorado would start slot limits like they had up there.
