Considering a new knife...

Not knocking Spydie's at all, But i do love the look of a BM, Just about every one of them.

And the Axis lock :D

Skirmish is a sweety, and also a meaty knife, may be too much for some.

I love the 960, in all flavors it comes in, many different handle and blade styles on that unit to choose from, many.
(I have my eye on one aswell, been trying to bal books to get one,Soon)

All of them are a quality built unit for thier prices,so any way you decide to go is going to be a keeper, try to find a place to see them in first person
as there is striking difference between the ones you have listed, so the sizing may take you by suprise if you dont.

Welome to the Addiction, cant just have one :D

There is not a single bad choice in that group. I would probably go with the Persian, but it really comes down to intended use and personal aesthetics. You can't go wrong, so get the one that appeals to you the most.

If you're not set on the Axis lock (which is really cool and nice to use), get the Skirmish. If you're going to whip it out in public all the time at work, you may want the Mini-Skirmish. It's not small by any means, it's just not such a behemoth.

Peace.

I gotta second that recommendation. The full-size Skirmish is a monster. The Mini Skirmish has a blade as big as the others on your list, you're not giving up anything by going Mini.

The Apparition is pretty sweet, I love mine; it's flashy, so if you want to show off, it'll do nicely. But if you need to be more discreet sometimes, remember, it's very, very shiny.

I recently reviewed the Persian, and found it to be a very stylish, well-made, and very useful knife overall.

As for the SpyKer and BM 960, I have no firsthand experience with them.

I got a chance to use an apparition a few weeks back and I was really impressed. That knife feels so solid! Very confidence inspiring. Also, I was initially not impressed with the look of the knife from the Benchmade catalogs, but in real life, this was an extremely beautiful work. Felt great in my hand also. The assisted action took a little while to adjust to (from the Kershaws I'm familiar with) but I ended up really liking it. Unlike Kershaws, you sort of have to flick the thumbstud to get it to pop open. If you slide it open it sort of turns off the assisted action. This is actually a good idea so that you can isolate your assisted action for the appropriate (sheepleless) places. And that action has some kick! Liner lock looked nice and secure, though I'd have preferred an axis lock if it were possible. In fact, if that had an axis lock, I'd have one right now. The apparition is on my list.

The 960 is just an absolutely beautiful knife. I very, very nearly bought one myself. I "settled" for a D2 minigriptilian (pretty much the exact same knife with a lot less pretty) just because I knew I'd be more likely to abuse the cheap one. Great knife.

Aloha!

Persian OR Apparition...those are beautiful knives!!! Also, the ergos on the Persian are incredible!

God bless

God, i am wanting that 960 more an more.

Every time i see this post, i drool a bit more for it.

I need that knife, no i want it, no i have place for it :D

Anyways, i am kinda glad, little biasim, that you chose a BM.
(Myself, would have grabbed the 960)

Damn, how to get it out of my mind for the rest of the day now.

Peace and GL with our new tool.
