Considering One of the Becker Necker Knives. Or Any Good "Neck Knife" Suggestions?

I really like the Murray Carter "Neck Knife" line but those who are familiar with those knives know that they are a little bit pricey.

Still wanting a "Neck Knife" I've seen some of the Becker Necker knives that caught my interest. Been looking for a deal so I'm not married to the Becker idea but would like a good, or at least decent, neck knife.

So what do you guys think? What can I get the most bang for the buck out of? Also given my recent spending spree I've got to keep this under $60 preferably. Though if a fantastic knife comes along for a bit more money then I can probably deal with that. Second hand is just fine by me.

the bk 14 has been the best deal ive found so far. ~35 IIRC. if you wanna go cheaper or try a stainless version theres always the bkRemora or BRKT bravo necker

Dumb question: Have you ever actually tried a neck knife, do you know that you'll be okay with carrying that way? Although some really get good use out of neck knives, I've found an almost equal number of people don't like having a knife hanging around their neck. There are some downsides to it. I tried it and couldn't stand it. Just sayin', before you get into the issue of "Which knife?", I'd also make sure you've considered whether neck carry is for you. If you can try one from a friend, or rig up something of equal weight/size to hang from your neck for a day or two, you might want to try it first. I'm trying out the Mercharness as an alternative to neck carry; it's a good way to carry a short fixed blade. If that doesn't work, I'll try one of these pocket sheaths from KSF.

If you're certain you want a neck knife, there are a lot of great choices out there:
* Bark River Bravo Necker (more expensive, but probably worth it)
* The Becker is a good choice, as with most Becker stuff
* Check out the ESEE Izula
* Check out some of the recent Buck offerings: the Hartsook, the Mayo Kaala, and the Paklite field skinner

I love my bk11, but not as a not as a neck knife, its just too big, the only knife I use as a neck knife is my Boker gnome.

@ bret-ftw, thanks for the 411 on the thread. Seeing a couple of knives that I like already.

@ maximus83, that's not a stupid question at all. To answer your question, I'm use to carrying various items around my neck since I was a kid. Whether it was a whistle or a large charm (I do mean a LARGE charm) to lots of other items. The only thing I'm mildly worried about is relative quick access to the knife if I'm wearing a coat and sweater or the like.

@ Nicktterrell, I've seen the Boker Gnome and think it's a well made and attractive knife.

The izula is an awesome knife, I carry mine almost every day. And their warrenty is great.

I use my BK11 all the time and my BK14 a little less so. You aren't going to go wrong with Becker's 1095 CroVan and super heat treat for right around $35. They're outstanding.
