considering SOG X-42 Recondo...

but I was wondering about peoples experience with the knife. It seems there's mixed opinions about it so I just thought I'd ask here to try and decide if I'll get one.

Like all my other SOG's no problems good blade for the money.

The one thing I would have changed about mine was the one sided edge. I think the new ones are a standard double sided edge grind. Nice size knife.

About the review by Cliff Stamp, I have read it but that's on the older model. The new one is 60rc with a "v" grind. The new rockwell will probably help the breakage problem.

This is the knife I'm interested in, not the older one

The thing with Cliff's "reviews"...you either love 'em or hate 'em. That's for each to decide.

I personally receive all warranty returns into my department. Regarding the Recondos, I've only seen about three returned...Cliff's is one of them. I also have military and special forces gentlemen really happy with this knife! You might want to read a letter from an Army Ranger.

Here is another link about the x42 recondo (http://www.zvis.com/knives/fixed/sogx42.shtml). It may be about the "older model" you are referring to, but the author indicates that the blade is stamped hrc62? SLAPOSTM.
