This giveaway was hijacked and moved out of WSS because it was "political". I originally posted it in WSS as a thanks to the people in that sub forum that have been so helpful to me. It finds its way here since the mods felt it should have been in the political forum. Not sure why people get all territorial with their fake internet power...any who...here we go.

As you may, or may not, know, I used to teach Political Science at the University of Arizona while I was attending grad school. I have a fondness for the historical, political, and philosophical. I especially have a weak spot for James Madison (so much so I named my daughter Madison) and Thomas Jefferson (he was a very radical thinker). This giveaway is a tiny remainder of my library which has slowly dwindled since leaving Academia for other (not necessarily green but just as satisfying) pastures.

These great thinkers were not above changing their mind when reason told them to and were masters at changing the minds of others to suit their ends.

Just post a moment in which you felt compelled to honestly change your mind about a political believe you thought you held so firmly it could never be changed.

Oh, and since I am working on an AR build throw in a pic of yours if you happen to have one so the thread has some eye candy.

The prize is my beat up old copy of The Federalist papers. You must have a Rat Pack # to participate, UNLESS, you post a pic of your AR-15. Will pick a winner on 4/4 some time.

Being only 23, I can honestly say I have yet to drastically change any political view of mine. Maybe i will sometime down the road, but as of now, my current beliefs are set in stone

Man...giveaway a knife or some insignificant piece of gear...300 posts. Try to giveaway some knowledge and some philosophical and historical perspective on our heritage...coma. Thinking doesn't hurt...it's actually quite soothing.

I can think of at least two times in my life that I experienced major political mind changes. I'm not going to enter the contest though, so I'll keep them to myself. (I already have my own copy of the Fed Papers.) I just wanted to say this is a great idea for a give-away. I'm a big admirers both Madison and Jefferson, and I'm an admirer of those who are not afraid to change their minds. (I'm betting few will play as the trait seems to be so rare.)

Captain Spaulding— here two enthusiastic :thumbup: to you! Way to go!

QFT on the "few". Few will change it and even less will admit it.

I don't want to clog up your contest, but wanted to add a little quote from Elder John Leland, a friend and political ally to both Madison and Jefferson.

"The human mind is so flexible, and surrounding-objects and passing events so varying and illusive, that the man who never changes his opinion, is either very weak or very stubborn."

Here's one I have handy and a funny. I'm still waiting on my pack # but I'll try to dig up some AR pics if the M1A won't get the job done. I'll follow your directions, just got to dig the pics up. Would make a handy addition to our homeschool curriculum.

There we go. The tree of Liberty is thirsty . . . . . .

Your thread was not "hijacked". It was moved to the correct forum given the nature of the thread. I'm closing this thread because nothing changed in your original posting. It's political in nature and therefore your thread in the Political Arena is enough. If it's not allowed in W&SS what makes you think it would be allowed in the ESEE Forum? Use your head, man.
