Construction Adhesive: Mounting an Anvil

I believe Raymond Richard and some others have discussed using construction adhesive for mounting an anvil. Is there a specific brand that is stronger/better than others?

Over here in Korea I can only find Liquid Nails, and am wondering if that will work, and how to go about using it.

Thanks,

John

Interesting question,
I also have been thinking of the use of Liquid Nails to help hold the anvil in place.

John, The Liquid Nails should be just fine. Just remember to let it cure for a good 24 hours before using it. I've got the forging demonstration at Blade West this Saturday. With my luck the anvil will fall off the stand when I got to set up for the demo.

Thanks a bunch. Like everything else I do, I'll probably go for overkill: Liquid nails, chain, lag bolts and turnbuckles (sounds like Pro Wrestling, huh?)

Well, I used an entire tube of Liquid Nails tonight. It cost about $3.50. That much JB Weld would run over $100. I also secured the anvil with lag bolts, chain and a turnbuckle to tighten everything else. At this point the Liquid Nails is just a nice bedding and vibration dampener.

liquid nails gives under impact, jb weld chips and cracks
Thats the thing....Will it give?
I swing a big hammer at my forge. I would put the liquid nails to the test.

You know what?, Im going to try this too this weekend!
I will come back soon and post here if it worked or not....

My anvil has been held in place with only construction adhisive for at least 6 months. I do a good amount of forging and it hasn't let go yet. I also worked 30 years as a carpenter and the times I've had to tear things apart where construction adhisive was used the wood broke before the the adhisive let go.
