I've got a 15-year old Pro-Cut (old Kovall machine) that has developed as bad vibration. I've changed out the bearings, but the shake is still there. Next step would be new contact wheel. I talked to Coote, but those wheels
($130)are machined for a 5/8" shaft. Mine is 3/4". USA Knifemaker supply takes 1/2" ($260 or so). I found a sticky for Contact Rubber Corp, and I'll probably call them tomorrow.
-How good is their stuff?
-They claim to resurface wheels - anybody ever had that done?
- How hard would it be to bore out the Coote wheel?
-Anybody got any other ideas?

I'm probably going to start putting together a grinder in a box in the next little while, but I've still got to get this one back up and running.

I had a couple wheels resurfaced at Contact Rubber Corp a few years ago. They did a good job and the wheels have worked flawlessly.

I can't remember how much they charged, but it was a lot cheaper than a new wheel.

Take care

Charles

I've put in new bearings and a new drive belt, everything is tight. I can't think of what else it could be.

Could anything else have gone out of alignment or become worn or bent?

Not saying you're wrong, you just want to be sure before dropping $300 on a new wheel and then finding out you still have a problem.
