Hi,

Anyone know where I can get an 8 x 2 inch contact wheel for a good price - I'm in the UK so shipping and import tax increases the cost too much for some of them I've seen.

Hi Vic
I know a guy who is making wheels
he is a great guy and does good work at a good price,he is just staring to make
contact wheel he has done some custom work for me.
His name is Rob Frink he will be able to make you one
he made me one to try a three inch one,I wanted it for making contours on my skinners
send him an email at rfrink@qn.net
tell him Nathan House sent you his way he is honest and you will get more than your moneys worth.

Thanks for the kind words Nathan!

I'm now registered here on the forum. My web site is at: Beaumont Metal Works

Sincerely,

Rob Frink

hi vic,

It's nice to hear that there are fellow knifemakers at this side of the ocean. I live in Belgium and have a catalog of tha 'abrasives center' inBrussels, Belgium. They sell everything ranging from polishing to grinding. They stock the contact wheels you're looking for (different hardness and axis). Their email is: centrabrasif@cci.be
If you want, i can get what you need and send it over.
Hope to be of any help,
tim

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input. Nice site Rob! the piece on how to build a belt grinder is very useful. I'll be in touch if I get stuck.

A friend reckons he can get what I need at a good price so I'll give it a while to see what he comes up with.

Thanks for the contact in Belgium Tim, I'll email them and see if they can send me a catalogue. The longest 50mm wide belt I've seen over here is only 915mm long which may just be long enough.
