Does anyone know of a good source for belt grinder wheels? I do know of Bader, but I would be interested to hear of others. (especially those in Canada)

Thanks,

GW

If youre making a grinder yake a look at Grizzly's.They offer a 10 inch wheel for $57.00. Haven't tried it or seen it but for the price a person might have it trued???

Thanks TJ, it certainly is a good price isn't it?

I see that Grizzly runs their belt speed at 3600 fps but, can anyone tell me what the higher-end grinders are running at? (or what you prefer)

Thanks,

GW

Under the post "Knifemaker supplier list", check out what these guys have to offer. These would include Texas Knifemakers, K&G, Koval, Jantz, Tru-Grit, Sheffields, etc.
Other sources for contact wheels are the places that carry Burr-King, Wilton, etc. such as W.W. Graingers.

When it comes to contact wheels expect to pay around $200-$250 for a quality wheel from these places for either an 8 or 10 inch wheel. While making a grinder for hollow grinding, the contact wheel and the motor are the most expensive items.

As for speed of the grinder.fast is good for hogging out the most steel, but lousie for finishing. If you can afford it get a varieable speed and run it at slower speeds the finer the grit you are using, you have more control of your blade, less heat, easier to get the scratches out. This is what Alex Daniels has showed me,thought I would pass the info on.
