Can anyone offer any help in contacting the ABS? I have been to the website and the email address I found there doesn't seem to work. Can anyone offer any other advice? I'm trying to look into the status of my membership.
Thanks,
Mike

MIke I had to ask an ABS mastersmith to help me get my membership sorted out. I had the same problem you are having. That is the route I would go, find someone with some inside pull who has a direct phone number to someone up high.

ABS Membership Services

Effective September 14, 2009 membership services in the American Bladesmith Society, Inc. are now being administered by Dan and Sally Cassidy in preparation for the launch of the new ABS website. Dan can be reached at (719)539-1033 or by email to assist you.

All ABS membership renewals, changes in address or other personal information, as well as new member applications should be mailed to:

American Bladesmith Society, Inc.
PO Box 905

Please do not attempt to renew or join online at this time. You will be notified when the new ABS website application is online and available. The new website will allow ABS members to log in, view their membership status, update their personal information, and renew their membership online. New members will be able to join the ABS online.

If the ABS has your current email address on file, you will receive a personal email when the new ABS website is available online.

Thank you,

Dan Cassidy

I have tried contacting the ABS for 3 years with numerous phone calls and emails and finally said to hell with it hopefully it will be better now.

Thanks Tom and K.A. for the confirmation that I'm not going crazy!

Stacey, I took your advice and wrote to Dan. I'll see what happens. Thank you for the information and the lead.
Mike

Stacey took the words right off my fingers. Get hold of Dan at that phone number. He will help you and answer any questions. The whole website is going through a revision along with some other things and when it gets done it will be MUCH better. Besides Dan is a super nice person.

Just a note folks. I just got off the phone with Dan and Sally to get my back dues paid up. They're extremely friendly folks and were plenty responsive and easy to get in touch with. Forget what you knew about contacting the ABS, just call Dan and Sally and they'll get you taken care of.

Bear in mind that most of the old codgers at the helm of the ABS predate the slide rule, never mind the PC and Mac! I just met a bunch of them this summer up at the first NE ABS symposium in Maine. Dan and Sally were among the gang. They are veritable youngsters in comparison to some of them! All them are really nice folks indeed!

At the time (as I recall) Sally thought they were a handful of weeks out from getting the new site up on line. I told her (as pleasantly as possible) "ya right, we've been hearing that for a while." She did show me snapshot/screen-shot of the new look though. It was quite snazzy! But, I guess it is a bear of a project, especially if there is a dynamic membership accessible database on it.

Thanks for posting the membership contact info off of the ABS site here Stacy. I think I'll drop them a line and make sure they have my email address so I can get notified when the new site is live!

I haven't had any problems myself, but I did come home today to an email confirming that my membership status is up to date. This is the first time I ever got an email response to a message I hadn't sent out yet. Now that's what I call SERVICE! Thanks Dan. You da man! How's that killer new website coming along?
