Does anybody know what kind of grind comes on this knife? What about the Rift? Man that Rift will slice. Just got the contego and have not took it to the woods yet.

Not sure what you mean exactly but I would describe both as a high flat grind. Not full flat (ffg) but I have read that both the 810 and 950 are thinner behind the edge than a Spyderco paramilitary 2 which is saying a lot. The pm2 is described by many as an extremely "slicy" grind. I have no way to confirm the claim myself however.

Regardless of the grind these models are fantastic knives for sure!

Thanks for the replys. I sure like a flat grind. What is the difference between a high FG and a FFG. It is higher, haha.

Razor! Hey man, I just realized who you are lol. I'm glad to hear you like the 810. I do too very much.

A ffg starts at the top and tapers to the edge. A high flat just means that there is some metal above where the grind starts its taper. No real difference that I can tell other than looks. People tend to think that a ffg results in a better slicing blade. They don't realize that a hfg is essentially the same.

There is also a grind that is similar to a ffg but it tapers directly to the apex of the edge. Think upside down triangle in the blades cross section. It's called a zero grind. Spyderco has a good section on their website called "edge u cation" if you want to brush up on different terms. :)
