With the first day of fall, the weather is abruptly changing here in Oregon. I'm getting a little nostalgic about all the fun this past Summer brought:

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm ardently looking forward to spending lots of time like this:

However, I want to motivate myself, and alls y'all's to get out in the cold and get square in the path of difficulty! So here's the contest:

First, plan your cold weather adventure (of course, it has to include a Becker!) and post your plans here.
Second, execute your plans!
Third, post pics of your adventure and give us an after action report.

Winner will be chosen in March based on a combination of best adventure, best execution of plans, and best after action report!

A mystery prize box is being prepared that will include at least one Becker product as well as an assortment of other goodies....

I will be doing this...doesn't get cold in Texas till January...lol...we have time!

My wife was just saying that we don't have an autumn anymore. We were just having 90 degree temps and then they dropped to the 60's. I'm not complaining cuz I prefer it cold.

Glad you all are up for the challenge--we can't have Murph win by default! Who else wants to get on board?

Sounds intriguing, I'll have to figure out something to do... Definitely contribute some pics here!

Cold weather... that's cute.

"Cold" is a relative term. Round here they close down the whole dang town if it dips below 40F and/or there's an inch of snow somewhere.

If I was still living in WI, I could win this thread just by going out to start the family Truckster in January and scrape the ice off the windows with a Becker or THK... never mind shoveling hundreds of pounds of snow out the way to get through the driveway and onto the street, or waking up with blankets, cats and dogs literally frozen to ya.

40 years of that might convince a man to move South...

I think St Loke might have some things to say to you....I hear Northern Norway gets a bit chilly.

I live in the arctic, northernmost part of Norway. It's quite chilly, a lot of snow, and we've got about 1 month of complete darkness with temperatures down to about -30 Celsius. But the thing that causes most problems are the winter storms. So I can relate to the snow, ice and cold temperature, James. But I'm sure that we're not the only ones who experience harsh and chilly winters. It's all a part of the game when you live in the north.

With this awesome challenge that ironborn has cooked up, I really hope I can show some of it to you guys.

I'm in!

Minnesota had a pretty warm winter last year, resulting in alot of slushy conditions. Lets hope it stays colder this year.

I'd much rather be in dry-cold than wet-cold.... :D

We have been known to get a few cooler nights and an occasional dusting of snow.

So yeah, me and the Scout the Tundra Puppy are in,

Maybe even the bride,

Maybe we can scrape together enough snow to make a snowman or something.

Can we have alcohol?

And fire?

^^^^Yes, Yes, and Yes! Looks straight out of Farmer Boy.... Now you just need to go in and eat a four course breakfast with 2 kinds of pie.... So, what will your adventure look like this winter?

Bump. So, November is fast approaching--anyone have a rough idea of what their adventure will be?
My goal is to hike to the summit of Mary's Peak (highest point in the Oregon stretch of the coast range), snow camp without a tent, and hopefully catch/dress/and eat some game.
Hopefully something fresher than this:

Also, first item in the mystery prize box--a beer can alcohol camp stove, much like this one:

More to follow....

Yep, it gets cold here for a whole week scattered across 3 months. :)
Now we just have to predict which days so we can schedule vacation days off. :D :D
