oh hey, another contest...

in honor the the BK5 Magnum Camp winning the award recently, and to spread the word on how great this knife is...

this is a reprise of the watermelon helmet contest but with a fruity twist...

fruit-plate body armor contest special !!! Plants? Zombies? Zombie plants? who knows!

not just a helmet this time, but full-on fruit and vegetable based body armor

you can use string, melons, fruits, Becker knives (potential bonus for using BK5s to carve stuff)

there will be carving... optional: tin-foil for helmet liners and inlay/accoutrements

other twists to the contest: quality. you must really go all out on this. you MUST excel to win not just enter... there will be no default winner.

heck, there might not BE a winner. slapping a couple coconuts on isn't going to cut it. we want warriors. dressed in fruit.

we don't want to see your grapes either ;) know whut i mean? :P

open to EVERYONE on BF (over 18, yaddah yaddah)...

okay, this has been up for a while now... nobody is biting? really? geez. really? no interest?

i'll let it float on its own, without benefit of sticky, and if there aren't enough entries by Sep 1st, well, it's gone. have to inspire you monkeies some other way. perhaps with pumpkins.

then with snow... whatever it takes.
 
I wanna give it a try, but I'm going to be going on a trip until the 28th of August! I will try to plan something!
 
I totally want to do this contest but to do it right means cutting up a lot of fruit, and my tree-hugging tendencies aren't letting me go that far :(

I have been thinking about this one a bit, and I think I'll give it a shot this weekend, unless the contest has been closed? My main concern was spending a ton of money on fruits and veggies, which aren't all that cheap...but now that I'm back to work I might have to swing by the farmers market this week. Do I still have a shot Bladite, or is it closed up? (planning on doing more than a coconut bikini...I've got some clever ideas...)

do not be concerned about spending money, this should be using what you have at hand, or can borrow, or whatever. perhaps a picnic or bbq, or whatever...

if you aren't already eating fruits and veggies, then why not? :)
 
well, since nobody really seems keen on the idea, and i'm sick of seeing it in the stickies, i declare this puppy unstuck...

someone feel free to revive it later, and if enough people want to jump on it, we'll see...

but it was a lark for a summer picnic with many watermelons and things laying about...

i never expected people to WHINE about having to buy fruit JUST for the contest? geez, people. don't you eat fruit? goto picnics? campouts? get drunk and get silly?

so... right. unstuck. (let it die a fruity death)

and oh yeah, no prizes awarded ;) halloween is coming. maybe we'll have some extreme pumpkin carving or something... but wait, no, there will be whining ;)
 
s'ok if I enter the contest yet dress someone else in full body armor, say someone that is 4 years old? :-)
 
Sorry Bladite! I was into this, but wanted to wait for pumpkins and work is kicking my keister!
