Somehow this seems the correct place for this contest/giveaway, but it is open to everyone at Bladeforums.
Last February we adopted a rescue dog (Shiloh), coincident with my sons 10th birthday. Since then we've had all kinds of people offer both weak and strong opinions about what kind of a mix she is. And I mean those opinions have been all over the place.
I finally bought one of those Doggy DNA kits.

Got the results back a couple weeks ago.
I have absolutely no ties to this company. I will say that if you're interested, you can get a significantly better deal on the kit from a well-known auction site, relative to what you'd pay from the company's website.
What the company does is compare your dog's DNA to known genetic markers for different full-breed dogs. Then you get a breakdown based on how mutty your dog is. If she's a full-breed, she'd be 100% breed X. If she's a mix of two full-breeds, she'd be 50% X and 50% Y. The muttier she is, the lower any percentage will be.
So what we got back for Shiloh is that she's 25% one breed, 12.5% another, and then there are 5 more identifiable breeds in her, all around 10%. So yeah, she's a mutt.
The contest. Just guess 3 of the known 7 breeds she's got in her. The percentages don't matter, just reply and list 3 breeds. I'll check in about every day. Of the answers posted since my last check-in, I'll let you know how many correct answers are in there. Once I've posted, you can guess again. First one with 3 of the 7 correct breeds wins. No more than 3 breeds per guess, no shotgunning. I'll ignore posts with more than 3 breeds, even if 3 of them are correct.
What you win is a GEC double-blade pocket knife. I can't remember the number or the specific model, but I assume someone will wander through and recognize it on site, so please pass along the information and I'll add it to this post. Knife has been used but is in excellent working shape. I'd clean it up before I used it because I like shiny things, but I know how some of you are about your patina, so I'll leave it alone. If you win and you'd like it cleaned up just let me know and I'll polish and oil it up before I ship.
About Shiloh: She's full-grown. People seem to assume she's a puppy for some reason, but she's not. She hasn't grown a bit over the last year. She's about 30 pounds, thin, well-muscled, and fairly crazy. Definitely a medium-sized dog. Feel free to ask questions about her if they'll help your cogitations.
See post #44 for the first-day results.
Second update at post #63
Update at post #85, first winner is bamacowboy6, with Boxer, Border Collie, and Greyhound.
Contest continues for 3 more of the remaining 4 breeds, winner gets a damascus bead.
Update at post #94 with a full list of breeds that have been eliminated from contention.
