I don't know if there is going to be another kit contest, but a RAT fire kit contest would be cool. Who can come up with the best kit for their fire kit sort of thing.

Deal. And we will give away another fire kit to the winner. So, post them up here. We have another contest going!

We'll even include the button compass on the one we give away. ;)

Whoa thats a great idea!! Im in!

Will put something together tomorrow.

Cool contest. I'll stay out of this one. My "fire kit" consists of a LMF firesteel stuffed into my Charge TTi case. Not very exciting.

Here is my entry. Sorry for the bad pics, I somehow ended up without a digital cam after my recent divorce:jerkit: so, pics where taken with my phone.

Heres my neck based fire kit.....

-Includes RAT firekit w/ small spool of fishing line, sinkers and hooks.
-Squeeze LED light
-ACR whistle
-spycapsule full of water purification tabs
-striker

I decided against filling with tinder. I have tried out misch metal, and have found that if you can find fuel for a fire, you can make tinder to use. The molten chunks start even damp tinder with ease. Its like napalm!!

I lucked out and found a small spool that fits perfect in the kit. Its like it was made for it!!

My brunton compass will be replaced with a dry one, as soon as they get here. Slow mail during holidays I guess.

You can see with the contents of the kit, I still have room for some other small things I might stick in, but this kit, paired with a fixed blade, and my SAK Farmer, to me, I could fare pretty well if need be.

as you can see the spool is a perfect fit!

Great kit troutfisher!

How does the brass wire hold up to unfolding? I might add some tripwire to one of the grooves on the firekit to use as snare. I have found a strong line or spiderwire works well for snares too.

I have one of those key keepers from countycomm also. They are handy!! I love countycomm. puts a hurtin on my wallet every time I go to their site....

Thanks guys!

Pretty good. Its not folded real tight. Its more of a bend than a kink.

Its true about countycomm, they are money stealers for sure!

Those little A & P "keychains" from CountyComm are really strong and great for ganging together items like whistles, P-38s, microlights, mini-ferro rods, pill fobs (for tinder) and zipper-pull compasses, etc.

How long is this contest "open"?
Can't take part until I get my Izula (pre ordered mine from my german dealer - it isnt available here jet... :grumpy: )

This contest doesn't have anything to do with the Izula.
