About a year ago, Duncan (Campbellclanman) posted the following in a contest Toothpick giveaway:

To be in the draw for this next knife...I would like you to post a photo of your favourite old knife-that YOU have in your collection.
This next giveaway I have thought VERY hard about, and it means a great deal to me...so much so, I want others to follow...please hear me out.
A while ago Dennis Strickland left the forums...I miss this guy very much, to me...He was a great guy, he gifted me this knife, I have sharpened it carefully, and want this to be gifted on the grounds that the new owner keeps this knife for a year...marks it on the calender and repeats this process - as in offer it out to a new owner for the next year...and ask that this be repeated ....words wont describe what I will feel if this is not upheld...so if you feel you can do this?...please go for it...I really want a Traditional forum member who has a good number of posts in here to take this on...the reason?...I want others to enjoy - and look after this knife, and pass on the enjoyment to another great member here...what do you think of this idea?
The blade carries patina now-naturally so, very tidy sharpening....and is in fantastic condition...this is a Toothpick, and Dennis's name should be mentioned in the next give away..here it is..( its the top knife in this photo - the other stays with me forever )
Please guys, ... it would be great if true intentions of carrying this knife for a year and repeating this process.

I was lucky enough to be the recipient of the knife and have use of it for the past year. It has been a faithful and steadfast pocket companion, but the time has come (all too quickly) to pass it along to the next lucky person. The rules are exactly the same as last year. In order to play, please be a regular contributor to this little part of BFC (Traditional) and please post a pic of your favorite old knife that you have in your collection. I have a great memory, and by posting and participating here, you WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE to pass the knife along here to the next interested party one year from now. If you cannot or will not commit to that, don't even think about entering.

I will let this contest run until 9/11, at which time I will close the contest and get a number from random.org to determine the winner. Your post number is what I will go by. One post per person please (if you post more than once, only your first post will count). Here is a pic of the contest knife:

Great Idea.

I could commit to those rules. However, I have a couple of GEC's to carry and use happily, one of which was gifted to me. So if my name was picked ahead of anyone who had not already had the pleasure of using and carrying a GEC it would be counter productive to send it my way.

So I will just watch.

The more people that are exposed to GEC, the better!!!

I'm in, and thank you for hosting this giveaway
Do we have to give it to a BF member? There are a few friends (not on BF) that would really enjoy it.

Almost forgot, here is one of my favorites. Boker half congress

I think my preference is to keep it here amongst the good people that peruse and contribute to this site. If you want to enter, please don't forget the pic of your favorite old knife in your collection.

I'm game, sounds like a fun give away that could keep going perpetually within this community.

This is my fav, I carry it a lot...I'll build patina on it, use it and scuff it up, then it comes back...its ALIVE! :D

I´m in... thanks for the chance :)

I´ve never owned a toothpick/powderhorn before.

Two of my all-time-favorites :D

I am in. Thanks for this opportunity. So many great people on this forum such as yourself. I have found a soft spot for traditionals and have never owned a toothpick. Thanks for the chance!

Good on you Chris, for keeping this going. A lot changes in a year, but I'll commit to it.

Very difficult to choose my one favorite old knife, I like several of them for various reasons. If pressed to select only one, I think I will have to go with this Utica I recently acquired from Mike. It has everything I like about old knives: beautiful bone, old carbon steel, long pull on the main blade, and is of a pocketable size.
