I know it was supposed to be serious, but I just got out of a long and tough exam, my brain feels like Jello and all I want is a beer, but I'm stuck in College for a few other hours. I hope at least you had fun.
 
I would wear the hat and sunglasses. If they were perscription sunglasses, they would be usefull for starting fire on a sunny day.

Bungee cords would work great for stretching across the road to make motorcyclists wipe out hilariously.

Paper bag would serve as emergency kindling.

If you needed to cut something, you could use a shard of broken glass to CAREFULLY do your task.

Panties could work for an emergency bandage.

The reflector could be usefull in signalling cars/planes/boats/submarines.

But I'm not 18 so this was all a waste :(
 
Question:

This can be easily "not mentioned" in entries, but can the equivilent of something like the roadside sign be used instead of an ACTUAL sign plucked off the road? Like the wire structure of those signs..can similar gauge wire in the appropriate length be used be used?
 
I actually had to do this about 3 weeks ago. My car uses quick disconnects on the coolant hoses and they get brittle simply shear off. You can't just reattach the hose you have to make some sort of splice. So I used a straw and water bottle I found in an amusement park (I was doing retail theming at night). I used the straw as the inner core and then cut the water bottle to make it more rigid. I then wrapped it in teflon tape and duct tape (from my car kit). I then inserted the splice into the hose end and broken disconnect end. I then gutted some paracord and wrapped the whole connection. Then liberal use of duct tape. Made it 20 miles on the interstate to where I could make a more permanent repair to get home.

Use the fishing line to suspend the sheet of plastic in a shelter/signal beacon (I presume it's white?). Start a friction fire using the glass to make the fire set. Use tthe condom and the soda can to collect water, and boil it in the soda can.

Id bend and break the license plate to form a blade of some sort and maybe make a arrow head.
Then id use the disposable lighter to start a fire and burn the tire for smoke signal.
I would then use the fishing line to build a shelter with the sheet of plastic and some brush.
I would also use the condom to collect water.

BTW, I tried not reading what others had to make it fair... :D

First, broken glass could be used as a knife and also as a signaling mirror (i am pretty sure it reflects light pretty good)...
You could make a slingshot out of the panties to protect against animals in the road (maybe not the best but something that works)
Advertisement signs can be used as shade (hold it over your head as an umbrella) and if it rains, you could use it to collect water with...
The CD can definetely be used as a signaling mirror.. very shiny...
Finally, to make fire, the soda can be scraped off and used with the lighter to create fire...

i just did my rendition of the "challenge"
first off, since these items were "found" by the side of the road, my goal is to signal for help. and to use what i have to signal, and gather water and food.
items used golf ball, large plastic bag, water bottle, CD, string. and i found a stick, broke it in two and sharpened both ends.

I used the string and tied it to the CD, my idea is that i would tie it to something on the side of the road and it would flutter about and catch passerby's eyes.

This was the most item heavy thing i made, it is a water collector, i dug a hole in the ground, placed part of the water bottle at the bottom and placed the plastic over the top of the hole, and i placed the golf ball right above the water bottle half, the idea is to make condensation and have it collected in the water bottle half

the only tool used during the contest was an ESEE izula, which i would have on me no matter where i went

OK kids. Here's the deal. Talking about what you'd do with the items doesn't count. I want pics of how you did it and what you're doing.

Soda can boil water, maybe polish the bottom with some cloth/sand to use for fire making
roadkill , depending on the "type" and time of death, for food and skinning, to use as blanket in case of night sleep, in some improvised shelter

as there is no mention of a knife present, a piece of broken stone/rock, the edge of the cd with some sanding, and/or sharp pieces of the soda can will have to do

You need to provide pics of you using these or their intended use. Just saying how you would do it would make winning a kick ass knife too easy.
