Contests?????

There are several folks here on BF as well as myself, who are in the dark about the mysterious "BladeForum Military Contest".
I had asked numerous times (to the point where Sal thought I was bitching about wanting Spyderco to spring for even another contest) when I noticed different posts that had references to "a contest" and didn't get any answer from any one. I get the email bulletins etc from BF & 1SKS and don't remember any mention of the contest.
Any idea how we get on the list to be notified of contests?
Finally, I was sort of disappointed that no one posted the url or whatever for the contest (ie responded to my question) so that more of us might have participated. A lot of us don't visit every page of the Forum or even check out 1SKS pages EVERY DAY.

There was no "Military contest" as such. SFO had donated a Military for the BladeForums monthly draw, details of which are on the opening page. This month there are a Cuda CQB and an LCC up for grabs. Everyone who posts during the month is eligible. You need to keep an eye on the Blade Discussion Forum around the end of the month to follow the action. BTW I've been here since the very beginning and I haven't won yet

Here is something I don't understand though:

"RULE 6. Prize winners are chosen at random on or around midnight of the last day of the month. Each month, a random number is generated for each member of the forum.<i/> Members are asked to provide a random number at midnight, at which time the numbers provided are compared to the corresponding numbers assigned to each member. <b/>If the number provided belongs to a member that is ineligable (has not posted at least once, etc), the next number is used until a winner is chosen. Pretty simple, right?

What do we as "members" have to do? At midnight on the last day of the month, each provide a random number? Provide how? I don't understand.
Anybody clarify please?

On the last day of the month Mike Turber calls for numbers on the Blade Discussion Forum. He then picks one of these numbers at random and then, if that corresponds to the number assigned to you again randomly, you win. You don't have to pick a number to win and the member who picks the number of the winner doesn't win anything, just a warm inner glow

Clay has it correct. I would add that the person who's number is selected must post at least once during that month. The October knife contest winner was the SECOND number picked. The first person hadn't posted, so
they were not eligible.
