Hello fellow knife lovers. This is my first post. I joined recently when I got back into my knife fixation. I have two overriding loves. Books and knives. I have been letting my knife obsession rest for a few years while i focused on books. Anyway, now that I am back, I have been running around town with a friend, checking out the local shops to see who was making what and to handle some blades. After several trips to different shops, but having yet purchased no knives, my friend turned to me and said, "What was the point of this? What have you accomplished?" Quickly mounting my defense, I said the following, "Well...I have gotten a lot of information that i would not have been able to get if i hadn't been standing there, with a knife in my hands, asking questions." My friend busted out laughing. After they calmed down they brought my attention to how that sentence would sound to someone out of context. I thought that was hilarious. I had no one else to share that with, but i thought everyone on here might get a kick out of it. Thanks for listening.

You have to take your friend shopping for a shotgun. Your comment would come out stronger with the substitution of "shotgun" for knife.

Welcome! You've found the right place to learn about knives. You'll learn more here than you will in any store. Good luck, and hold on to your wallet, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Yes i have found vast amounts of information that i wanted here in the forums. As long as you're patient and thorough, the forums are like having your own personal group of knife experts and field testers. It really is a wonderful resource. I cannot tell you all how glad i am to be back in the world of knives. I missed the bladed little beauties so. Right now my biggest excitement is at the decision to start saving up for a handmade Tom Mayo folder. I was going to start saving up for a Sebenza. I really like the simple lines combined with an inlay of some sort. However, after poring through the forums here, i was reminded of my Buck Mayo TNT. Thus i realized that what i really wanted was a custom Mayo. Gonna take me about a year i figure. It will be so worth it though. I loved my Buck Mayo. It just felt absolutely perfect in my hand. It would still be my EDC but i gave it to a friend of mine who is thinking of Re-Enlisting in the Army. He needs a good knife.
