Today I purchased the "Knives 2000 Annual" at a local book store. I can sense by merely thumbing through the mighty tome that the remainder of my week-end will be spent absorbing the knowledge within its pages!

You might also enjoy The Working Folding Knife, by Steven Dick. Mr. Dick is the editor of Tactical Knives magazine, which I think can safely be said to be the odds-on favorite knife mag among forumites.

Thanks for the "heads-up" everyone! Now I have a knife book list a mile long!

The Knives Annuals like you have purchased are one of the best ways of absorbing an understanding of the knife industry as a whole as can be found.

A library near you may have back issues, if so, you will do yourself a favor to read them all.

Thank-you for all the suberb suggestions everyone ...... I don't want to overwhelm myself with too much to start with, but rest assured that I have made note of every publication and book that you all feel is essential to furthering my knife/blade knowledge! I may not get to all of them straight away, but in time I'll do my best to read them all! Once again, my heart-felt thanks!

Metal-Demon,

The 2001 knife annual is already out. Contact KnifeWorld Books if you are interested. You may also want to get a copy of Levine's Guide to Knives (4th edition). It provides a good overview of knife lore; and, although it is currently out of print, there should still be copies on the shelf at your local book dealer.

You might also want to take a look at:

Modern Combat Blades by Ducan Long
Paladin Press ISBN 0-87364-670-3

- and -

Battle Blades by Greg Walker
Paladin Press ISBN 0-87364-732-7

Both books are a little dated (1992 & 1993), but provide an interesting overview of tactical knives.
