This is to be a fun topic. What do we see the most discussed?

Forging vs. Stock removal

Sole authorship

Heat treating

Jack Daniels vs. Maker's Mark (LOL!)

I would say HT'ing, hands down but that is what I look for and gravitate to the most - so I may not be seeing the whole forest.

Forging vs stock removal, but I quit arguing about them long ago.
Heat treating will still tweak some makers buttons too:)
Blended or single malt Scotch:)

Forging and stock removal both take talent. There is no argument from me there.

Heat treating....well, I would say the answer to that is thus. You ask 25 people the same question, but how many answers do you get back? You get 26 because the person asking always has an opinion too.

Jack Daniels vs Makers Mark. Well, someone step up and by one of each, and some other brown spirits, and I will give my honest, but drunken, opinion on all you buy......

All of these have about the same affect as asking a bunch of us men about our taste in women. It all comes down to what we prefer, and what works. I am by far no journeyman. Not a Bruce Bump, an Rlinger, a Graymaker, but I can decide after a few of anything what works for me.

To each his own, and that is about as good as it gets from me for answers.

Hmmm, I try to stay out of the controversial topics because I really don't have a firm opinion yet. But here is how I see it:

Forging for me, as all I do is damascus, but I have only recently made an effort to forge more to shape, just depends on the pattern I am doing.

Sole Authorship; well, I plagerize alot ;)

Heat treating: Yup i do it.

Jack Daniels hands down. A good 50/50 mix with coke works for me.

Women type: Well, a Britney Spears body is about as perfect as it gets for me. She is soooo, yummy:D

The only thing I know for sure is that women and booze only tend to fog me up, don't get me wrong, i enjoy them both. Nothing lets me think clearer than when I am working on a knife. As long as I have fire and a grinder, I am happy.

I try to be "somewhere in between with an answer to something like this, but the truth is "there is the way you do it and the way I do it, but neither is wrong if it works for you or me".

I have never doen a stock removal piece, but I have forged a few. Most were crappy, but some were good. Most of the good ones came from forging the crappy ones together and learning from the mistakes made.

Do you keep a shop notebook? I do for everything from machine work to experimenting, and motorcycles. You never know when you are going to see "that" problem arise again.

I do love a good debate though.....let the debate go on!

Doc

I will be happy and fine from there.

You know what sex in a canoe and American beer have in common don't you? They are both close to water!

I prefer Brunettes and redheads, but they all fog me up!

So what were we talking about again?

Doc

Beats me, Doc.
I prefer Famous Grouse Scotch :) Damn near sacriligious for a guy from Kaintuckee..:)

What about just stamping out a blade?
Bringing home the "Young lady" from the local bar
and for libations Old smuggler!
Now you livin high on the Hog!

Well, hope it was worth a laugh

Shoot, you rascals beat me to the good answers, especially Sean's with Ms. Spears! As for drinkin', anything that will pour can't be that bad! And if you fall off the log by the fire, don't spill the cup! We ain't got no 10 gallons of the stuff to WASTE! I don't suppose refined gentlemen like you folks and me have ever done that, though. Spilled the cup, I mean.

OK, guys! Here's the deal. I have a (younger) friend that has a daughter on the Houston Texans Cheerleaders Squad. Now does that make a fella feel old or what???
